This car is in excellent mechanical condition and everything works. This is a great looking car. It is over 15 years old, and once you get closer than 10 feet, it does have some imperfections. On the outside there is a scratch on the drivers headlight and a small crack in the front bumper. The car does have a few scratches, including by the Porsche crest. The wheels could use a good Polish, on the lips especially. On the inside, while being in good shape, the bolster of the drivers Sport Seat is worn, and like all these 996 Porsches, the Carbon Fiber pieces have cracks in the clear coat.
This car has a Regular Iowa title with "Prior Salvage" designation. I bought this car around 3 years ago and had it repaired by a reputable local body shop that works on a lot of Porsches and other European cars. It had been damaged in the right rear quarter panel behind the door. I can provide a picture from before the car was fixed, if desired. The right rear quarter, rear bumper, and tail lights were replaced at that time. They did excellent work, as you can see in the pictures.
Unfortunately I did not get any service records when I bought the car. I do not have records that the IMS or Rear Main Seal has been upgraded. This car is a 1999 which was the only year for the dual-row IMS from the factory. Failure rate on 1999s were less than 1%. The car does not leak any fluids so there is no RMS issue. I was planning on doing the IMS when a clutch was needed, (since you are already in there at that point) but the clutch is in good shape and probably has at least another 20k miles before needing replacing. When I changed the oil (which I used the special Joe Gibbs Racing Porsche 996 oil), I did cut up the old cartridge filter and there were ZERO metal flakes or shavings in it. It was clear.
I recently took this car on a 250 mile trip with zero issues. Whether you buy this car to daily drive, drive on the weekends, or even track / autocross due to the rare LSD and sports seats, this car will always leave you with a smile on your face. From the 6 speed transmission to the upgraded exhaust that sounds flat out amazing, you will be grinning from ear to ear.
I have set this auction at $15,000, no reserve. Similar cars have sold anywhere from 22k to 30k depending on miles and options. You will not be able to find a better looking and sounding/driving car for 15k, I guarantee.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks!
