1965 Porsche 912 Description

1965 912 for sale
The great:
New Engine… less than 500 miles on rebuild with authentic German partsRebuilt CarburetorsNew ClutchNew Main PansRare, Early Build… #1313 - European delivery (km/h), Stuttgart factory builtTransmission shifts beautifullyRebuilt BrakesNew motor mountsNew Tires… less than 200 milesNew points/condenser/rotor/capNew Carpet KitNew HeadlinerNew rubber boots (E-brake/Shifter)New Vinyl upholstery wherever neededNew Seals on Windshield, Back Window, Quarter WindowsEarly Four screw Horn Grilles128 LightsOriginal RadioSpace Saver spare tire/larger fuel tankNew Shift Linkage… shifts like newNew Throttle Linkage… pedals like newNo accident damage to any of the panels
The not so great:
Rocker panels are toastLongitudinals have rustHeater linkage not hooked upSpeedometer cable starting to go/Odometer not workingFront suspension pan rustyMain pans are new but only riveted to surrounding metal… actually helpful as the parts that could be replaced will be easier to removeLights working(wiring checked) though some bulbs need replacingTie rod ends old… car pulls to right when brakingDriver seat ripped and tapedPaint is rough (park her anywhere without fear)Some rust on body (wired and primed)Small rust hole under batterySteering has a bit of slop… new tie rod ends should tighten it upNormal 50 yr old car quirks
If a full restoration is what you’re looking to do, this babe needs some underbelly work. She has new main pans but the surrounding metal they're riveted to needs love. To replace all metal with rust ($4300, I’ve tallied what’s needed from Restoration Design), the paint stripped and redone, a gaggle of hours invested in labor and you’ll have a $50,000 piece of history. However, if you don’t care about white pants, hot toddies and Concours presentation and just want drive she’s all ready and will not disappoint.I, myself, am not set up to do body work. I have no lift and no dry shop in which to do it and for this reason I’m passing her to the next loving home. I’ve done all I can to honor her… completely stripped the interior, removed all rust, applied POR-15 everywhere inside, re-foamed throughout and completely redone the interior… new carpet kit, new headliner, new vinyl wherever needed (dash, A and B pillars, window trim, center channel, door parts, etc.), tool dipped seat belt brackets… the interior looks fantastic. She drives wonderfully and can be done so right away… starts cold easily and has more zip than I predicted for the hamster in the rear, though I haven’t opened her up as she’s still in the breakin period for the new engine. Tear her apart for a full restoration and sell her for $50K… or don’t do a thing and enjoy driving her right away. Either way, this little darling deserves a loving, appreciative home.
We've all been swindled at some point by ethically flexible sellers so I’ve been very thorough with the photography/videos (60+ photographs and 2 videos… driving/walkaround). I don’t want anyone feeling misled. Please, look at all the photos, watch the videos, ask any questions. I’m about an hour south of San Francisco and am happy to help coordinate transport if pickup is not possible.
Thank you for your time and interest,
Jefferson
The Videos:

The Photos. First, the great:
Entire interior wired free of rust then POR-15 throughout. Interior re-foamed then new carpet kit installed. Original rubber mats intact... one 4" tear at accelerator pedal.Dash reupholsteredNew Headliner New vinyl wherever needed
And now for the not so great:
Longitudinals rusty New main pans riveted to old surrounding metal. Some small rust holes in typical places for these 50 yr old darlings.Front pan out of loveRockers toast Like I said, rockers are toast... $110 from Restoration Design. They have every piece of metal for this car and surprisingly reasonable. Another shot of new pans riveted to surrounding metal. In some spots the pans were fastened to surrounding metal with bridge metal pieces.
A number of spots on the exterior missing paint... wired and primed to prevent rusting.
And then more good:New tires... less than 200 miles. From 30 feet she's a real beauty.

I've been receiving many questions about a 'buy it now' price. I've decided to let the auction play out, though anyone is welcome to make an offer at any time.
