1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet: 98k Orig. Mi, Blk/Blk 964
1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Description
This is my:
1991 964 Cabriolet all black.Custom Turbo Wide body kitCustom staggered aluminum rims and tires. The top is operated manually (common issue with these convertibles regarding the transmission for the tops. There are no mechanisms for the top meaning the convertible rear motors are not sold with the car. It has the front motors used to lock the top. They are tested and functional. The car has some electrical gremlins that I have not had a chance to decode all.The tip-tronic transmission shifts through its gears intermittently. ( It did not shift at all when I purchased the car. I changed the transmission ECU which helped the shifting greatly.. ) Meaning it changes the gears when you are driving and will stay in 3rd gear once you reach third gear speed.I was able to purchase a replacement transmission computer and it worked great when installed and I reset the DME. I had to replace some other electrical items ( Like the car position sensor located behind the hazard button. So the DME needs to be reset by the tool ( Hammer ) and I am sure this will reset the transmission computer.IT DRIVES VERY WELL AS IT IS AND IS VERY VERY RESPONSIVE ONCE YOU HIT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BUT AT THE END OFTHEDAY YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT TO EITHER GET THE TRANNY REBUILT OR A REPLACEMENT.THE ENGINE APPEARS TO HAVE SOMEPERFORMANCEWORK DONE TO IT AS IT ISSURPRISINGLY VERY RESPONSIVE ON THE HIGHWAYThat has been the major issue that I have dealt with this Porsche.
I have replaced all new gas shocks for the rear and front trunk lids .K&N filter for the intake 1 month agoReplaced oil tank due to pin-hole leak and new rubber lines to oil tank( Behind passenger door )
Other MISC items:The car alarm does not work. The drivers power lock is was removed because it was seized and would not allow the car door to lock. The passengers side is fine and not removed. The center console needs to be securedThe drivers and passenger seats are racing seats and need to be secured properly. The battery drains if left for a few days without starting. ( Part of the electrical issues I have not had time to chase )I know there are a lot of things that I may not have mentioned. Please as questions.Again please be aware that the motor is running great! I was made aware that it was tuned up prior to my purchase by a porsche shop in Long Island.
I was going to finish the project but realized I will not have time in the near future due to my schedule. This car is planted to the ground and is a JOY to drive. If it is purchased the next owner will have a unique piece of history and can work on it while driving it.Under very hard bumps the rear wheels may rub. Only under hard bumps with passenger.
This car has clean title with salvage history. It was involved in some sort of accident back in 2013 I believe. I have had the car on a lift and the frame is completely straight with no welding or repairs to it. You would not know it was ever in any accident. The car is located in Long Island and inspections are welcomed and encouragedFeel free to contact with any questions or for any pic you may need.
The sum of it's parts more than triple the buy it now price. It's just a project I can't give my full attention to as I would like. My lose is someoneelse'sgain. Don't miss this one!I have listed it at a VERY reasonable steal considering it is not perfect. ( Is one ever ? )
On Aug-30-16 at 09:17:52 PDT, seller added the following information:The title is branded Rebuilt NY.There are no issues in having this car registered in any state. It has already passed inspection here to be road worthy.
