Gateway Classic Cars or St. Louis is proud to offer a gorgeous Beck 1955 Porsche 550 replica. Built in 2010, this sweet little roadster has hardly been broken in with only 768 miles on the clock. The Beck replica consists of a tube chassis which beautifully fits a Volkswagen 1,915cc 4 cylinder engine and 4 speed transaxle. The body is hand laid fiberglass and recreates the beautiful Porsche 550 Spyder. The Porsche 550 Spyder gained some pop culture interest when James Dean purchased and raced one which he called "Little Bastard." Sadly, this is the vehicle he was driving when he experienced the auto accident which caused his death. This event led to even more notoriety to the 550 model. This one is finished in a slick coat of silver which really shows off the body's curves. This one has two sets of wheels available, some stock steel wheels of a nice set of 5 spoke chrome wheels. The vehicle is equipped with front disc brakes, and radial tires in all four corners. The interior is simple, yet beautiful. The red upholstery really pops. The dashboard is simple and houses a beautiful set of gauges to keep the driver informed. Of course a proper 4 speed manual shifter falls readily to hand for the driver. If you want the comfort of a modern stereo, just reach under the dash and there's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo. To keep with the racing theme, Simpson racing seatbelts will keep the driver and passenger secure. This is the perfect car to carve some back roads on the weekends or bring to a local show.
