Very rare Shadow coupe in amazing condition
1967 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 2-Door Saloon Description
This beautiful and very rare first year production of the Shadow Coupe is truly not just a time capsule of luxury for the time, but it is absolutely a pleasure to drive. As I understand it, the Shadow Coupe was used as the Corniche, undergoing a name change in 1971.
I bought this beautiful Rolls Royce Shadow Coupe last year from a person that had acquired the vehicle from the son of the original owner who had planned a restoration, but thankfully he lost interest and sold it to me.The story I was given was that it had belonged to a wealthy woman who ordered it new and waited nearly one year for it to be built to her specifications. She lived in the Northeast and did not care for the winters so she would have her chauffeur drive her each year in the Coupe to South Florida, Miami Beach to be more accurate. (there is still a window sticker that boasts the name of a very affluent area and condo)She held this car until her death in the 1990's when her son then took the vehicle to his Dealership and left it in his showroom for nearly 20 years. Then sold to the person I bought it from last year. When I got the car it ran amazingly well and fired up every time.I had the car cleaned, the brakes reworked, the A/C repaired and the four power windows gone over to be sure they were fully functional. The windows all work well, the drivers window goes only down half way, but still functional. The power seats only work in a few positions as well.I was amazed at the original interior condition. Absolutely fantastic. The wood veneers are so very well preserved, the Connolly hides were also in amazing condition. I only had them cleaned and lightly dusted to help bring them back and preserve them even further.I do have a set of lambswool rugs pictured in the trunk that fit the car and I have left the phone that was installed in the trunk. It also has an aftermarket Blaupunkt cassette radio that works as well,my guess would have been it was installed in the 1980's. I have all the paperwork for that radio in the glove box.My vintage Rolls Royce mechanic is so amazed at how well preserved mechanically this luxury ride really is, citing that the 87K+ miles likely highway is what really did this car justice. Seems to have been always garaged and properly maintained. This beauty is not perfect. There are some blemishes on the exterior as it seems to be all original paint. There are a few touch-ups that are not very good, and a few other marks, chip, dings, etc...The A/C blows Ice cold, the transmission shifts perfectly and as far as I can see, all electronics work as they should. Tires are like new and all fluids have been changed.Car is not perfect. There are some things such as the front and back exterior window weather stripping that can be replaced as it is very dry and the front bumper could use a re-chrome.If you are looking for a very well maintained, excellent running, very comfortable piece of history, then this is it.Again, I am a collector and my warehouse is overflowing and I have far too many to drive is why I am selling. Please check out my other listings. Thanks!
