Words from Road and Track magazine.The initial driving impression when comparing the new Arnage T with the last Bentley we had an opportunity to drive — a 2001 Arnage Red Label (see December 2001 Road Test ) — is that the chassis has been vastly improved in rigidity, ride composure and handling capability.The strength of the doorsills, wheel arches and roof has been bolstered, as has the front bulkhead. Some chassis components utilize adhesive bonding instead of the standard welds (recall Lotus and Panoz).Another element that benefits the new Arnage T's improved, more solid composure comes via new hydraulic engine and gearbox mounts that help to lessen noise/vibration/harshness.Improved steering makes the driver feel more connected to the road. A simple but savvy route was taken to improve ride comfort while concurrently sharpening the handling: Springs and dampers are set up slightly softer than last year's car for more comfort in straight-line driving, and the Arnage T gets a rear anti-roll bar for the first time, along with a beefier front bar, to enhance cornering.. And the single Garrett T4 turbocharger that has graced the turbo Bentleys for more than 20 years has been replaced by faster-spooling twin T3 turbos. Performance numbers are spectacular for the big sedan. Horsepower is up to 459 and torque is up to 645 lbs. ft. The T does 0-60 in ONLY 5.5 SECONDS with a claimed top speed of 170 mph. !! Amazing for a full size luxury/sporting sedan. Our Bentley ARNAGE T is the performance model and much more difficult to find.
