2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen, original low mile unmolested supersport, Collectors Look !
2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen Description
I purchased this Viggen from the the Washington DC area just over 1 year ago, and drove it home. It was a one owner trade in on a new Audi at that time. It is my dream Saab and I looked forward to working on it, to make it like new - with my vision of upgrades. Purchased some of those upgrade parts over the past winter when this Saab was in indoor storage, but never found time to play with this car. I have too many projects, and not enough of me to go around - so I offer it to you, the discriminating Swedish sports car enthusiast. It is one of 421 of sedan hatchbacks made that year, and if you have driven one you know how crazy fun, fast, and desirable the Viggens are. All stock and apparently all original except for the wheels, which I replaced as the originals were not very round anymore. Original wheels are known to dent and bend easily, so a nice true set of 9-3 SS wheels were added. Tires are Yokohama AS430's with all tires having at least 70% remaining tread. Best I can tell, body and paint are repair free and original, but it has minor parking lot dings and stone chips that you will have on any car of this vintage and mileage. No body work, no corrosion, no paint blistering, or any other signs of extended exposure to salted roads. An original honest low mileage Viggen that runs and drives very well, but will need some part renewal consistent with a used car that was taken care of. Everything works, climate control, power windows, power locks, sunroof, and AC too. No leaks, engine runs excellent, no signs of low oil pressure or overheating. Has ALL of that Viggen power, transmission shifts cleanly and clutch seems OK. However, it is 16 years old and has sufficient miles on it to justify some general maintenance to the steering and suspension. Struts seem a little tired, and front end is a little loose at higher speeds, nothing crazy or unsafe but with the performance this car delivers it is time to tighten everything up. Here is where it could use modifications, along with new tight steering components, a Viggen "Rescue Kit" to eliminate the crazy torque steering would be a great addition. I purchased and will include poly motor and transmission mounts, many misc. spares, hoses, belt, filters, latest PVC kit, a new spare Swedish made DI, (along with a new one I installed on the engine.) Also, I did change the spark plugs (correct NGK plugs were used, old plugs looked clean) and just changed the engine oil and filter with Rotella T full synthetic and a German Mann filter. That is pretty much the extent of what I have done to it, wish I had time to keep it for myself. Here are my usual terms for buying a used car. Sold as is - where is. I drove it home about 400 miles last year, and a little bit locally and the car drove fine - but I cannot promise it will for you. I really believe it is a great car though, just want to be straight up with any potential buyer. No reserve auction, If car sells with "buy it now" I will include A new Big Mitsubishi type turbo with a king cobra Saab inlet pipe, an extra cylinder head, 2 new rear hubs, and anything else Saab related that I have around from other Saab projects over the years. Snapping turtle not included ; ) Good luck bidders!
