1967 Shelby Shelby GT350 Description

REVISED DESCRIPTION...VERY SORRY, BUT I DID A BAD JOB OF CUT AND PASTING.!
Description:1967 Shelby GT350 For Sale - Original 289-4V Hi-Po Engine.Shelby, a Texan and longtime racer, saw the potential to slay Corvettes withthe Mustang and created the high performance Shelby “GT 350″. How did thecar come to be named a GT 350? Most automotive historians claim that theinspiration came from a discussion at Shelby American while trying to comeup with a name. Carroll Shelby is said to have inquired how many feet it wasfrom the office to the workshop buildings. After measuring a distance of 350feet, the car was called a Shelby Mustang GT350.
1967 marked the start ofthe second generation of Mustang, in which the Fastback body design wasfirst featured. This Fastback look became a part of the iconic Mustang.Upscale, professional and well off, the buyers Shelby and Ford targetedwanted performance at their disposal but also demanded their performancecars be comfortable and reliable daily drivers. The 1967 Shelby Mustangscame with the full complement of scoops as well as unique fiberglass hood, nose and rear deck. The 15x7 wheels were standard with the Goodyear Speedwaytires.
For 1967 Shelby Mustangs got progressive rate springs that werecomfortable on the freeway but stiffened as they were compressed to givegood handling. Over the course of the year 2,048 were built, all in thefastback body style. The Shelby GT500 was the Mustang on steroids with thenew big block, a 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor and promptly outsold the1967 GT350 by nearly two to one. As a result the rarity of the GT350 being 715of 1,175 is in the mind of collectors today.
