2007 Shelby Mustang GT500 Description

2007 Shelby GT 500 Convertible - 3500 miles from new!!
The boys at Ford's SVT reunited with Carroll Shelby to create this super Mustang, and if you think it bears more than a passing resemblance to the 1968 GT500KR, you're right. But unlike the original GT500 nameplate (a random number that came from counting off steps in Shelby's 1960s-era workshop), this Mustang's moniker has a basis in fact. Yup, the 5.4-liter V8 under that vented hood makes an honest 500 horsepower, along with 480 pound-feet of torque.
How about a comparison with the mighty Ford GT? The GT used an aluminum block with a dry-sump oil system and an Eaton "screw-type" supercharger creating 13.5 psi of boost. For the GT500, supplier and cost concerns required the use of a wet sump, cast-iron block and "Roots-type" supercharger with 9 psi of boost. But the Ford GT's four-valve aluminum heads transferred over unchanged, as did many smaller items, such as the piston rings and bearings. As those engine numbers suggest, the GT500 moves out with exotic-carlike verve when you boot the throttle. Its deep well of torque, combined with a low-frequency exhaust wail and high-pitched supercharger whine, make you want to access those 500 ponies again and again. The triple synchros in 1st and 2nd gear give the transmission a positive, crisp feel when swapping gears, and the overall driving experience manages to be both civilized and brutal, depending on where you position the accelerator pedal. The car pulls zero to 60 in the mid-4-second range and makes it fun to do so over and over again! Directing that power is a Tremec six-speed manual transmission featuring dual 215mm cerametallic clutch plates. The cerametallic coating can withstand extremely high temperatures, and the dual-disc design increases the clutch engagement surface area without requiring free-weight leg training to operate smoothly. This is exactly the same unit Ford used in the 2005 Grand Am Mustang ? the car that won last year's championship its first year out ? so they figure it's been adequately stress-tested for the GT500's street duty.
The car offered here was purchased new by my previous neighbor Geoff; he drove it along his Ford GT for a more "family" feel - all 3500 miles of it.

I am now listing this 2007 Shelby because he has decided it is time for someone to REALLY enjoy this car and is willing to take a serious financial hit considering the few miles he actually used it. He got most enjoyment from seeing it in his garage and now wants to move on to other things. He purchased it new from Galpin Motorsports in West Hills, California - the largest Ford dealership in the world. He is well known there for his love of fast Fords. The car has never left Southern California and has never seen rain or a wet street even. He never took it to the track and it shows in its present condition.

The car looks and drives basically as a new car, I can not find ONE flaw to describe any visible use. The tires have even less miles as Geoff took off the original Shelby wheels and ran it with other, black Shelby wheels. He has recently taken them off and put on the (new) original set, had them balanced and are now ready for their first drive.

He had Galpin Auto Sport (GAS) put in the optional Ford Motorsport upgraded suspension (front and rear) and a tuned stainless exhaust. They put on a larger fresh air intake and retuned the motor for more performance. Taking this car for pictures proved to me this car is scary fast and should be in the hands on an experienced driver - with power like this it is no car for a High School gift! Everything on the car is immaculate, this is lie buying a new car without the sticker shock. It has all imaginable options (see build sheet) and all work perfectly, it will come with a new smog certificate for California registration and a new battery. This will make it one blistering fast new car to enjoy immediately!

Very little more can be said, the car is a rare piece, has a clean California title ready to be signed off and it should just be in the hands of a total, visually and mechanically inclined car nut. Good luck bidding!

I have tried to represent the vehicle as good as possible. Please review the pictures and email me if there are still open questions, I'm happy to reply. I can help with finding a shipper to either Overseas or East Coast, just contact me about it. (For overseas buyers: Taking the car to the docks for you will be an additional $150, we've done it many times.)

MY CONDITIONS - VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ !!!
Please do not ask what the reserve is--this is an auction. The title is free and clear and ready to be signed over, US buyers have to go through DMV. No trades are accepted and I reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason whatsoever. If you have no feedback or more than 3% negative fb, I will cancel your bid automatically before auction's end if you don't contact me to get clearance to bid--no exceptions! This shouldn't be a problem for most of you, but I must ascertain if you are a serious bidder or not, as I don't want to list the car again.
All prospective purchasers agree that this description is solely for convenience, and is not part of any contract of sale for the vehicle. My description is my opinion only, and should not be considered a complete description of any or all faults, and may not be relied upon, taken as fact or otherwise considered a representation or warranty or any sort. The car is sold as-is, where-is with all faults known or unknown. These should only be considered the ramblings of a guy who likes cars. Please see the car in person or send a representative for inspection. A pre-purchase inspection is strongly encouraged and I can happily take the car to one of the well-known nearby shops if you organize and pay for a PPI. Remember, this is a used car; it is not showroom new with factory warranty. I may have forgotten things that are important to you. That?s why you should send someone to inspect this or any car you are considering purchasing. I apologize for this lawyerly disclaimer, but we live in strange times.
Even though I have attempted to identify all the flaws I know of; please realize you are buying a used car, I just cannot possibly cover every detail that might be a concern to every buyer. The car comes with no warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. Neither I nor the car have anything to hide, but we cannot possibly know everything that might be of concern to you. We'll be happy to accommodate your request to view the car in person. All sales are final and bidding on this auction constitutes acceptance of these terms in their entirety.
You are bidding to buy this car, not to have the right to take a look at it! Your bid is a legal binding contract, and feedback will be left on the winning bidder, good or bad, depending on your actions. I simply do not tolerate bidders who do not step up to the plate and will pursue them to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Payment: A non-refundable Paypal deposit of $250 is due IMMEDIATELY after the winning bid, just to weed out the bidders up to no good. If that doesn't happen, the auction will run it's course. (Thanks for that option, eBay!) Certified check, M/O, wire transfer, or cash only for the remainder and due within 7 days of auction close or the buyer will forfeit it?s rights for the car and it will be relisted. Full payment must clear my bank before pick-up is even attempted. The car must be picked up within 14 days of auction close or you are able to arrange something else with me. Please email me if you have questions that are not covered by the narrative or pictures. Thanks and good luck!
God Bless America and all our BRAVE guys out there!
