1980 Smart SMARTACUS SMARTACUS Description

2002......Brand new chassis Smart Fortwo GLIDER ( imported to the USA with out motor or trans) with 0 Miles....basically a rolling chassis. glider was originally purchased by a Panoz company that imported them for electric drive conversion. Company went belly up and I purchased Glider from a dealer who bought it at auction.
2002......Hayabusa Motorcycle purchased with 3,350 from Chewy's Motorbikes Inc in Chicago I had my shop break down the bike and used not just the motor but also the whole instrument cluster and the Hayabusa locking gas cap.
Brand new conversion kit from SINISTER SAND SPORT of Tulsa OK. Kit A,B & E totaling $15,397 (kit configuration has changed since my purchase).

Consist of: Billet aluminum a-arms, hubs, heims, motor mount plates, subframe, bearing carriers, bearings, seals, stubs, disc brakes, calipers, ATB diff (puts 5 times more torque to the wheel with the traction), diff mount plates and bearings, FOX coilover shocks, as well as the CV/axle kit consisting of: 930 porsche cv's with axles, clips, boots, flanges, bolts.

Custom Fenders were fabricated by the Artisans of Body Works On Grand also located in Chicago.
Wheels imported from Germany directly from manufacturer Lorinser.
Project took over 1 1/2 years to complete. Everyone involved took great pride on working on SMARTACUS. Many small details that when all added together really transforms the look of SMARTACUS. Sub frame was powder coated to match the color of the cars panels, of course the gauges replaced on the center cluster, gas cap, wheel rim protectors...Rimzees. It truly has a very clean factory look about it.
Extremely fun to drive with lots of TURKEY NECKING to see where the sound is coming from when they hear the RACE MOTTO GUZZI Exhaust notes.
THERE IS ONLY ONE SMARTACUS
Since completion 827 miles have been enjoyed by me. It is stored every winter and has never left the garage unless the weather was perfect. As much as I enjoy walking into my garagEand looking at it, I just don't drive it enough to justify keeping it. I have owned as man as 4 Smart Cars at a time. recently just sold my daughters 2006 coupe and my 2008 Smartavador with Suzuki GSX-R motor.
The opportunity to own a Hayabusa Smart Car doesn't come often. This vehicle is something that you will not see again. Many people have contacted me for advice on building issues and complexities that are involved to do such a build......LOTS OF TIME AND MONEY. I have yet to speak to anyone who has actually completed one on his own. The ones I have seen running....mostly in Europe....are not anywhere near as finished as this true SHOW CAR is. My personal investment of slightly over 44k, doesn't include the countless hours of research and just plane communicating and running around to get things to continually progress.
TITLE......S0S312480ILL......I was given this title from the state of Illinois 2014 SPEC-CONSTD This is NOT A REBUILT TITLE!!!! Vehicle imported as Grey Market.....I had to post bond prior to acquiring TITLE European market vehicle vin #s are not recognized in the USA, therefor a new vin is issued by the Feds All import docs and paperwork completed.
