1979 Subaru Other Description

WATCH THE VIDEO: https://youtu.be/0Yuz29BO5Fc

Up for auction, this beautiful in-its-own-way 1979 Subaru DL wagon. Complete with push bar, white spoke wheels, and the best-looking rear end you’ve ever seen on a car.

It was treated for rust and spent most of its life in Michigan, owned by a guy who built this rack for a canoe, and had razors on his back. His passengers did not.

In better times, it was unstoppable in snow. In Sardine Canyon, everyone else got stuck, but it was never even dicey. It has switchable four-wheel drive and impressive snow tires.

In dirt, it can outclimb a new Outback. Watch the video to see it get right up, crest, and head right down.

Nowadays, it starts and runs, but not far. The engine’s rear main seal is shot, and it’ll dump oil like the Exxon Valdez. The engine has been fixed, but not messed with. New brakes, alternator, and fuel pump.

Aside from the Wolverine driving it a while, the interior is mostly original and decent. I pulled out a very bad-sounding cassette deck and put in a CD player and some rear speakers. The front speakers give basic support. There is one key for doors and ignition.

It has a small dent on the driver’s side rear door, some rust spots around, but no holes yet. It has a gas tank from Arizona, which is rust-free, and the gauge works.

Rear wiper and defroster do not work. Turn signals depend on the day. It either has 61 thousand miles, or 161, or 261. Not sure

If you’re looking at this ad, you enjoy the finer things in life. Even if they need some help to get fine.

All above is the script for the video, watch it here: https://youtu.be/0Yuz29BO5Fc

Adding: Windshield gasket is ghetto-looking up close, but does not leak.

I AM GIVING THE CAR A TEST-RUN ON EBAY, trying to sell it as-is first. If it does not meet reserve, then I will pay for professional repair of the rear seal (quoted about $400) and re-list or keep it. Are you the gambling type? Are you sure you want to gamble that this original brown baby will get away? Sure it's got some rust, but show me one that doesn't.

INCLUDED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE: A spike in your popularity. Everywhere you go, people point, look, and want to talk with you. The older folks remember these, and the kids today love vintage Japanese. I do not guarantee anything mechanical on the car, but there is a money-back guarantee that your social interactions will increase dramatically (warranty void if you are weird or smell bad).
