2001 Subaru Legacy Outback H6 L.L. Bean Edition Description
Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon with the desirable 3.0L H-6 engine. The Subaru Outback has an excellent reputation as a rugged and reliable AWD wagon. I would rate the exterior of this Outback to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION. As you can see, this is a good looking estate. It is finished in Wintergreen Metallic and tan two tone over tan and brown two tone leather interior. The finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older car, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. However, there is no noteworthy damage to report on this Outback. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and tail gate all open and close easily. The most noteworthy thing to point out about this Subaru is the lack of body rust. At this age, the majority of these cars have developed noticeable amounts of rust over the rear fenders and doors. I didn't see a spec of rust on the body of this Outback. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with good tread all around. Please take the time to check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean the body looks. I would rate the interior of this Outback to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. The door cards show a little wear but are acceptable for their age. The dash also has some visible wear on the passenger's side. The carpets show a few marks from age, which is also acceptable. This Outback has the desirable L.L.Bean package, which makes for a very well appointed interior. The two tone leather seats are clean and comfortable. The L.L.Bean logo is embossed into the backrest of both front seats. Both front seats are power operated and heated. The driver's power seat does not seem to want to go backwards or recline. At this point, it isn't a huge deal. I am 6' tall and fit behind the wheel. It's not my preferred driving position but I'm not cramped either. The power windows, locks, mirrors and runroofs all work properly. The audio system is the factory AM/FM-CD with the optional 6 disc in-dash changer, which sounds good and appears to be working properly. The climate control system is fully automatic and also appears to be working properly. It's a little too cold to know whether or not the a/c is working effectively but I can tell you that the heater works very well. The cargo area is spacious and clean. An original Subaru cargo liner and cargo net. The original owners books and a full set of original floor mats are also included. Mechanically, this Legacy Outback appears to be in good running and driving condition. The optional 3.0L flat six cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. It's worth mentioning that the engine option alone carried a higher price than you'll likely pay for the whole car. Her road manners are good for an older vehicle. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. As with any older car, please don't expect it to be perfect. However, this Outback gets down the road quite well. I've personally put about 200 miles on this Subaru with no issues. Steering and braking feel good. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. The check engine light is on. The code is P0031 (oxygen sensor, Bank 1 / Sensor 1). She seems to be getting around just fine, despite needing an oxygen sensor. It sounds like one of the heat shields is loose on the exhaust. You can hear a light rattle and a small exhaust leak...but nothing that will keep you from hopping in and driving. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with no issues. The AWD system is tested and working properly. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with no complaints. If you're looking for a solid AWD wagon, this well optioned Subaru deserves your consideration. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
