2005 Subaru Outback, 184k. New tires, lots of recent repairs listed below, new catalytic converter so it should have no problem passing smog. Registered, Clean title.
I love this car, she is my baby, I was the second owner picking up the car with about 25k. The car can go anywhere, fit tons of stuff and gets about 28mpg. My wife wants a new car, so it's time for me to let go of a car that will keep running for a long time if cared for.
Well maintained with service records, regular oil changes and recommended scheduled maintenance always done. Timing belt, water pump, hoses, shocks and other vital engine components replaced, see details below. Never let your timing belt wear down too much whichever Subaru you buy, it will seize the entire engine. When I replace the timing belt I also replace hoses and other pieces the mechanic recommends.
If you live here in the Monterey Bay area I have a great mechanic who we can go to together so you know where to have it worked on reliably at a good rate. Primarily highway miles, car runs great. We use as both a daily driver and on road trips up and down the state. I’ve been to Tahoe twice this season and love driving this car in fresh snow!
There are a few issues with the car which I disclose fully here. Subarus, as you may know, have head gasket issues. This car started leaking oil due to a head gasket leak in about 2013, it is a very slow leak and ends up on the outside of the engine compartment. When the engine gets hot, you will smell a little smoke at times, especially at the top of really steep grades. The car has been doing this since 2013 and I’ve never had reliability issues. The car is a tank, just this one quirk you need to know about. If you lived up a large grade or mountain I would not advise buying this car. Again, I’ve driven to Tahoe twice this year, I am talking really steep grades is when it smokes a lot. I always make sure I have enough oil, I usually fill it once in between scheduled oil changes. I’ve had work done to address the head gasket issue without fully replacing them.
The AM/FM radio works great. The CD player has not worked for years, replacements are sold on craigslist or ebay. An auxiliary cord could be added for about $200
My wonderful dog has eaten some portions on the interior which I show in the pictures.
KBB Value: $3,022
