In the late 1980s four wheel drive started making a splash in the top tears of the rally racing league, the WRC. During this time of development and innovation, the title for most revolutionary All Wheel Drive system passed from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the famed Group B, and Group S racing classes tightened restrictions, eventually making themselves extinct, Group A started making a strong appearance. Group A had a cap on maximum power, making the key to victory, lightweight, and handling. Leading the pack both in position, and engineering, was Subaru. Making podium after podium for the decades to come, Subaru has become a household name, a synonym with outlandish performance against the elements. Subaru's weapon of choice; the Impreza. Subaru has been making the Impreza since 1992. More then two decades later, Subaru has tweaked and refined their recipe for the All Wheel Drive, first developing the WRX package, or World Rally Xross, and finally creating their highest performing production car, the Impreza WRX STI. This generation of STI known as the hawk-eye, has been well regarded as one of the best STI renditions by many enthusiasts.
