2010 Tesla Roadster 2.0
2010 Tesla Roadster Description
The Roadster is an all-electric sports car. 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, with 244 miles of range. It costs me about $30/month in electricity to drive 1,000 miles.
The Roadster is not for everybody. It is small, storage is limited, it is kind of hard to get out of, rear visibility is poor, is had a taut ride and is kind of noisy. The top end is electronically limited to 130 and it can cut performance to reduce heat on the track; though in my years of daily driving I have not come close to those limits.
But oh man, is it a hoot to drive. It has excellent handling and incredible steering feel. Being electric, the accelerator response is incredible, and of course the acceleration is much fun. It is by far the most fun car I have ever driven in the twisties, it is the easiest I have ever driven in stop-and-go traffic, and I've really enjoyed it on several road trips to various points in California. It is also the most efficient car available on the highway.

Appearance: great! Not perfect; if you look closely for signs of age you will find them. Nothing unusual, just regular things like tiny pits in the paint and scratches on interior plastic. But I am regularly assumed to be a dealer showing off a brand new car.
Mechanical condition: perfect. Last Tesla service a few months ago...January? (I have records; so does Tesla). Everything works great. Also checked out by CarMax on August 29 (Tesla will honor their offer if I trade it in on my new car in early September; plus I get a sales tax credit) and they gave it top marks in every category.
Reliability history: it's been really good. I did have one battery sensor lead fail in April 2014 (a very common problem for the first ~220 2.0's) and rather than just fix the sensor, they gave me a whole new battery pack to make sure I didn't have any more of the poorly-welded sensor leads.
Battery condition (the most important aspect of any EV purchase): awesome - I doubt you can find one in better condition at any price. Well, unless you can find one that just spent $29k to buy a brand new 3.0 battery. It still has over 95% of the new capacity; it charges to 232 out of the original 244 miles. I got a near-new condition pack (CAC 156) at around 42k when I had a sensor lead fail. Their policy is to replace with "similar condition" batteries but I lucked out.
PEM: replaced with a brand new 2.5 PEM in 2011 (the original didn't quite meet the J1772 spec that came out AFTER the car, but Tesla gave me a brand new PEM for free!)
Tires are Continental DWS (a great year-round tire in the PNW; good in rain) with lots of tread. New WA tabs good for over a year.
This car has more miles than most Roadsters, but is in excellent shape. With an EV, the greatest toll of mileage is typically in battery condition. However, despite being one of the cheapest Roadsters available, this one has one of the best batteries you'll find due to the replacement at 42k.
I am still wildly in love with this car, but mobility issues in the family make it no longer practical. I am replacing it with a Model S (my wife already has one; they are great cars too and more practical, but not nearly as fun to drive).
This car is also for sale locally, and might be traded in, so this auction could be canceled at any time.
If you are not a local buyer, I am willing to get it to a Seattle-area shipping company for you (there are recommendations on the TeslaMotorsClub forums), but you will have to find it and pay for it. I can pick you up at the airport if you want to examine the car. Your local Tesla service center has records on the car; sometimes they will share them with the owner's permission, sometimes not so you should ask.
