We placed a deposit for this car in June 2010 without ever seeing one. It was delivered in December 2012, and has been the best car we have ever had. The only reason we are selling it is because we purchased a new 2016 - we even got white again. Absolutely no problems with the car at all - always serviced at the Tesla Factory service center in Fremont. In reality, these cars do not need service, but since it was our first Electric Vehicle (EV) we didn't want to take a chance so we brought it in every year for a checkup. Now that I'm used to the car, I will not be taking in my new one unless I have an issue.

At the time, this was the biggest battery available, and we purchased it with every option possible except for the rear facing child seats. The battery charged up to 264 miles when new, and now 4 years later and 51,000 miles, it charges up to about 256-259. That is VERY little loss over that timeframe and amount of miles. So they do not lose mileage near as fast as people thought they would over time. A daily charge is about 230 miles - just plug it in every night, and leave every morning with 230 miles. Only when you need to go on long trips would you do a full charge up to the 256 range.

We have taken this from the Bay Area to San Fernando Valley (just north of Los Angeles) many times over the years, and use the Superchargers along the way. Stop in at Harris Ranch for 45-60 minutes for a break, then you are on your way. This car has free supercharging for the life of the car - the new cars ordered now do not. That was another reason we decided to get a new one before that went away. It's always best to charge at home. You can plug into a 240v dryer outlet and get about 30-40 miles of charge per hour. If you plug into the regular 120v outlet in your wall, it will only charge at about 3 miles of charge per hour - painfully slow. So it's best to install a 240v outlet in the garage for the car. It uses very little electricity especially if you get on an EV rate with your power company and charge at 1am like we do. If you drive more than 200 miles round trip to work every day, then this car might not be the best option for you - but hopefully that is a very small percentage of people.

There are millions of articles about the car all over the internet. It broke all kinds of records for performance, safety, etc. Consumer Reports and others named it the best car in the world. If you are new to EVs, let's chat. We have not had a gas car (except for my 1932 Ford) for a few years now, and will never turn back.

Kelley Blue Book value range goes up to $50,537, and the same year cars are for sale online between $46,000 and $66,000 depending on mileage, options, etc. We are pricing the car at $52,900. However I guarantee there is not another 2012, with 51,000 miles in this condition. Based on the condition, it is like buying a car with 10,000 miles. For friends and family that know me, I always park a mile away from anywhere we go. There is not a single door ding on the car, it is perfect. There is only a very tiny ding at the bottom edge of one door where something on the road bounced up and hit it. But unless I point it out, you may not even see it.

Factory power train and battery warranty: 8 years / unlimited miles! If you want to drive it around for a million miles in the next 4 years, Tesla will take care of the drive train and battery if there are any issues.
