I am selling my 2001 Toyota Tundra. His name is Crush. I have avoided this for years because I love this truck. I've never had any major problems. Crush is ever faithful. But I have too many vehicles now and I can't afford to keep or park them all. I've done a ton of work to freshen him up and give him a face lift. I'll list everything below with some of the pictures of the process. I have plenty more that I'll give you with the truck after purchase.I'll try to list everything I can think of in the good and bad categories. That way there are no surprises. Please read everything before asking questions and please don't offer below the starting price. You can find trucks like this for less, but they will have at least 2-3 timesas many miles and I encourage you to check that fact.I don't want to hear about how it needs this and that. I know what it needs. That's why I'm listing those things. I have considered them in my price.I've seen similar trucks in much worse shape that still sell for over $10k.My starting price is only $6k and that's far below it's actual value. So enjoy the pictures, come up with your questions as you go, and after you've read everything just ask your questions and we'll work it out!
I pre-wrote this section so sorry if it repeats anything...Crush needs a new home!I bought this truck in El Paso, TX. in 2010 or 11 with 64k miles. It was my daily driver and I also used it for long trips with my motorcycles in the bed and pulling my trailer. I never had any problems going uphill even in VA where there's lots of them! I bought it after my first deployment to Iraq, stored it in IN with my uncle who drove it and kept it serviced while I was in Korea for a year, stored it in NC with a friend who took care of it while I was in Afghanistan, and my unit at Fort Bragg took care of it while I was in the hospital recovering from a motorcycle accident for 6 months in 2014. That's why it has such low mileage. All service has been done by Toyota dealers since I got it. I got it from a family member of the service manager at a Toyota dealership so even before I got it, it was always dealer serviced. It's never had any major problems. The only problem I've ever had was with the alarm draining the power when it sat too long. I had it disabled and haven't had any issues since. If you find someone to fix the problem, it also has power locks controlled by the key fob. I put the tires on it right after I bought it. They are one size bigger than the max it's supposed to have so the tires rub a little in sharp turns. I only feel it when I'm parking or turning around for the most part. The front right wheel needs a stud. It was stripped after a lug seized and we had to use a 6' cheater bar to get it off so we could rotate the tires. It's a simple task if you do it yourself or have a friend who's mechanically inclined. The belts were replaced a few months ago but it will need the 100k service soon so you can expect to change the timing belt. I just gave it a tune up and replaced the plugs and wires. I'm including the first set of plugs I tried. I got the firing order wrong when I plugged the wires back in so I bought more. I had the dealer tune it after to make sure I didn't screw anything up. I went to automotive school but it's been over 15 years so I'm a little rusty. However, the truck is not! There's almost no rust anywhere! If you look underneath you can see a couple little spots of surface rust but it's so thin you can pretty much rub it right off. Each time I have it serviced, I have them do a full inspection to make sure everything is all good. I had them drain, rinse, and refill the rear gear and transmission a couple months ago. It needs the valve cover gaskets changed. The driver side is leaking a bit. I have them and will include them, I just don't have time to install them. I recently did a full bumper to bumper re-vamp of the whole truck. The paint was tired from the TX sun, the interior had some stains from my dad spilling coffee on a long road trip, and I love this truck. His name is Crush. I felt like he deserved a makeover before I say goodbye for all the years of loyal, dependable service without fail. I'll try to put as many pix as I can of the process. I'm still doing a few things to finish him off. I'm installing foglights (or including them), I need to put a new panel on the inside of the tailgate, I took a pic so you can see what I mean, I'm going to detail the engine compartment, I've done a lot of off road driving so it's dusty. If you like baja style trucks, this is one of the best platforms you can start with. I've taken it on sand, dirt, grass, mud, small jumps, and it is solid as a rock! All the paint on it is spraypaint. I'm including some extra for touchups and so you can match it properly if you ever run out. I also spent about 3 days shampooing the carpet, mats, and seats. They aren't perfect but there's no holes in the seats or carpet and there's no weird smells or anything. People have smoked in it, but not very often and I always drive with the windows down so it's purified by the wind all the time. It's very clean for it's age. The A/C works great! The stereo was replaced with a CD player and has a USB port in the front so you can hook up your iPod (I sell custom built iPods by the way). It also has a headphone port so you can use your iPod without using the deck to control it and I put a nice cable to do so in the glove compartment. It even has a remote. Not sure why you need one, but hey! Why not? The back windows could use some new latches. I replaced the plastic hinge points with metal ones but they are not locking in place so I just tied them up with wire. I know, it's ghetto, but it has a sliding rear window anyways. The passenger side rear tire has a nail in it but it's been there for years and it holds air fine. If it sits for a couple months it will get a little low. The windshield has a few chips in it. I tried to show them in the pix. They've been there for years and never expanded so if it ain't broke, don't fix it! This truck is about as low maintenance as they come! It's got some dents and dings here and there. Mostly from moving traffic along. lol, It's built like a rock and these trucks are infamous for going more than 300k miles without any major problems. One guy made it to a million miles and Toyota gave him a new truck so they could dissect his and see why it's so awesome! I believe that's a challenge! I've had it stuck in the snow, mud, and sand, and I've always been able to get out without getting towed. I'll put details below in list form but feel free to ask questions! The price I'm starting the bidding at is actually really low compared to other 01' V6 or V8 Tundras with much higher miles than mine! Look around, you'll see. I've taken great care of this truck and given an extensive discription of it as well as pictures ranging from the day I bought it to now. Please ask all the questions you can think of before you test drive it. I live on a military installation so I have to drive out for test drives. So, serious buyers with cash or check available will be able to test drive only. I'm a busy guy and I walk with a cane so I don't want to walk to my parking garage unless you're serious!I reserve the right to end this sale early if a local buyer makes an offer before auction end.If it ends, the high bidder is the buyer and no more offers will be entertained.
