1985 Toyota Corolla SR5 Description

I am sad to say that it is time to sell one of my most beloved vehicles. I've had this car for over 5 years now and have simply run out of things to do to it without ruiningit's originality. I purchased the car in Nashville, TN when it was still bone stock with the original 4AC motor in it which was going bad. So soon after getting the car, I swapped in an imported 4AGE motor out of an AE92 Corolla from Japan. In order to maintain the original ECU and wiring harness of the car, and to add a bit to uniqueness, I replaced the EFI components of the 4AGE with dual Weber 40 DCOE carburetors. Over the years I have continually added several upgrades and modifications, and haveused this car as a daily driver for about 80% of the time that I have had it. the car has spent 2 years in TN and 3+ years in NV, where I now live. It is completely rust free and is in excellent condition. But please also remember that this is a 31 year old car now, so don't expect it to be perfect and without various problems.

Notable features include;

  • Genuine Toyota kouki corner lights
  • Genuine Toyota kouki front bumper supports
  • JBlood style fiberglass front bumper & side skirts (They're both old and have a good amount of blemishes. The front bumper has a significant crack at the very bottom of it)
  • Godspeed aluminum racing radiator
  • Blue anodized underdrive crank pulley
  • Electric inline fuel pump
  • 40 DCOE Weber carburetors with matching manifold
  • Misab inlet seals
  • Lightweight flywheel
  • XTD stage 3 clutch (It's not stiff, it's very smooth and easy to press)
  • Godspeed tie rods
  • Upgraded front & rear sway bars
  • TechnoToyTuning steering knuckles
  • D2 coilovers (All around)
  • Optima yellow top battery
  • Generic aftermarket header
  • Greddy Ti-C catback exhaust
  • Wheel spacers (1.5" front, 2" rear)
  • Rota Aleica wheels (15x8 front, 15x9 rear)
  • Tires still have lots of tread
  • CBY style fiberglass fender flares
  • Power mirrors
  • Working gauge cluster lights (AE86 owners know haha)
  • Full original interior
  • Incognito USB charge port added to climate control console (Opposite side of cigarette lighter)

  • Steel braided brake lines
  • Second generation Lexus LS400 (XF20) big brake upgrade using custom brackets(LS400 front calipers were used on both front and rear. Brake pedal controls front brakes, handbrake controls rear brakes. Greatly increased braking power over stock)

Downfalls;

  • No power steering

  • Cigarette lighter no longer works (completely rusted inside the lighter)
  • Original cassette player not working
  • Dashboard has 2 cracks (One over the gauge cluster, one on the passenger side)
  • Driver seat has a large tear on the left back section, and passenger has a small tear on the side of the bottom section
  • No cruise control
  • No hatch privacy cover
  • No spare tire
  • Reverse lights not working
  • Front bumper has several blemishes
  • Handbrake needs to be pumped a few times to be able to use it as parking brake (Handbrake master cylindermay be too weak for the LS400 calipers)
  • Carb chokes not set up (I just pump the gas on startup and let it warm up)

All the problems with the car are mostly minor, which is why I haven't minded most of them. I've been meaning to slowly get to everything eventually, but I have recently taken on another project, so I have pretty much lost interest in this. It's still a great car and it has treated me very well over the years. I hope someone else can enjoy it as much as I did, and continue to make it even better.

I still currently use the car so the mileage will slowly increase as time goes by. Contact me directly for more pictures, I have a lot. Thanks for looking.
