2005 Toyota Corolla XRS (Manual 6-speed)
2005 Toyota Corolla XRS Description
Fun to drive 6-speed manual. Unlike the popular cosmetic-only S-models that are everywhere, this XRS isn't just fitted with the sportier trim; it's actually got the performance upgrades (bigger engine, sportier suspension, 6-speed transmission, sports seats). Apparently there were only 2500 of this model made. Rides totally different than my wife's squishy S-model. This car is a bit older now but she's been a great commuter car (40 highway miles each way) for many years now and a lot of fun in the higher RPM's. I got a new job and a work car so she's gotta go. Full Disclosure: She's sat for a few months so she'll need some work (see the last few bullets below) before she's fully operational again.
Here's what I'd want to know if I were you:
- Tires: Separate summer & winter (Blizzack) on their own rims
- Transmission: Lasted over 100K miles. Finally gave up last year. Professionally replaced with used parts.
- Engine: No known issues. Regular oil changes & she's a champ. Maintenance history available upon request.
- Interior: Great condition - I added a touchscreen CD player/radio (w/ remote) to improve the commute. ! One of the silver compartment doors in the center console (below the radio) is broken...I either leave it open or remove it.
- Hitch - professionally installed by U-Haul.
- ! Exterior Paint: Very strange paint issue started last year. Clear coat peeling (see pics). I haven't addressed it.
- ! Rust & cosmetic damage to driver side, front quarter panel - (someone scraped it in a parking lot). Didn't affect the drive so I didn't address.
- ! Brakes - Full brake job last fall, but I let it sit over the winter and the front passenger caliper sticks. Will need to be addressed by buyer.
- ! Windshield - I didn't address a chip, and it turned into a big crack. Will need to be replaced by buyer.
- ! Didn't pass the latest emissions test. Buyer will need to address.
