2006 Toyota Prius Hatchback Description
So this Prius has run fine and served us well over the years. This Spring it threw a code indicating a bad hybrid cell. I had already been planning on replacing it, so I picked up another vehicle thinking I'd have time to work on this before letting it go. Now it's nearly winter and I'm really not interested in dealing with hybrid cell replacement/refurbishing.
Leather interior, premium sound, Bluetooth. XM-ready but no XM unit -- there was an FM-transmitting XM unit installed by previous owner but it no longer works.
Vehicle runs but is not currently driveable due to the hybrid battery issue. Needs a tow or flatbed. Please research Prius towing if you're not already familiar. 12V battery holds enough to start the vehicle, at least for now. (It's a yellow-top Optima).
Interior is pretty beat in parts. Drivers door armrest has a break in it. Replacement door panels can be occasionally found on Ebay. Carpet well-worn, especially driver's side. Needs floor mat, does not include one.
The lights and windows are all functional. Heat and AC were working fine when the hybrid failed, probably work fine now. Motor is a bit noisy. Don't know if that's related to the hybrid or not. Was getting around 45mpg before the hybrid failure.
At this price, this would make a great project car. Once restored, should be a good solid reliable upgraded Prius. Seats are comfortable for long trips.
If you're local to Fredericksburg VA and interested in taking a look, feel free to contact me. Any specific questions, photo or video requests, feel free to ask. Not out to mislead anyone on this vehicle, it is what it is, and I've got nothing to hide.
Not a completely smoke-free vehicle. I don't notice it at all, but if you're sensitive to it, you probably don't want this vehicle. Occasionally smoked in vehicle, never with windows up, if that helps clarify.

Further notes: 12V battery does NOT hold a charge for an extended length of time. Same day, yes. Multiple days, no. Will likely need replacement or reconditioning.
I was asked about tire tread. Front tires excellent, rear tires good. All four easily enough to pass safety inspection.
Speaking of inspections, passed most recent safety and emissions inspections in Virginia.
Spare tire is a donut tire, and is stored with complete jack system under the rear hatch floor.
