I purchased this Tacoma in May 2007 from the second owner in Ft. Worth, Texas. It was purchased new in central Colorado and shortly thereafter moved to Texas. It has been my primary or secondary vehicle in the time I've owned it, and I've decided to put it up for sale as it is rarely driven. It is a fantastic truck and is in excellent condition.
I was a Toyota 4x4 mechanic and have taken excellent care of this truck, maintained it thoroughly, and have been meticulous about its care. I used to buy/sell Toyota 4x4's with regularity and have kept this one longer than any vehicle in my life. I'm a bit surprised I came to the decision to sell it as, in my opinion, this is the BEST Tacoma body-style made. It is the coveted 2002 and a loaded example at that. I am quite particular about my vehicles and would be very hard pressed to find another in such good condition.
The vehicle has never been wrecked or damaged nor had any major issues. It has been virtually care free since I bought it 10 years ago. It has been inspected for all recalls without issue. It has zero leaks and does not burn oil. There is zero rust. The 265/75R16 Michelin LTX M/S2 tires are in perfect condition with deep tread. The bed has a spray-in liner (I used to work at the shop where it was sprayed) which has been covered by the camper shell since new. Additionally, there is a bed mat.
The timing belt and water pump were changed at the dealer in June 2012 at 115K miles. I have replaced belts, plugs/wires, air/fuel and O2 sensors (139.5K), etc, etc through regular maintenance and have receipts for parts. I almost ALWAYS use genuine Toyota parts including oil filters and gaskets. I replaced the shocks at 128K with OEM Toyota-Bilstein shocks designed for the TRD package. The truck runs Castrol 5W-30 oil w/ Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase, Amsoil Synthetic GL4 Manual Transmission Oil in the transmission, and Amsoil Synthetic 75W90 Gear Lube in the transfer case and both differentials. I frequently use Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner in the fuel.
The exterior has a few dings and scratches although nothing unusual considering the age of the truck. There are scratches on the roof due to poor canoe carrying on one trip. It is parked inside a garage. The interior is basically flawless and not too different than the day it rolled off the line. Seriously.
The SR5/TRD package includes power windows, mirrors, and locks, cruise control. deluxe stereo w/ CD/Tape/AM-FM Radio, bucket seats, center console, cup holders, rear differential lock (which operates flawlessly), deluxe gages, air conditioning (blows cold) etc. It is loaded as far as Tacoma's go. Everything works perfectly. The 5-speed shifts well, and the transfer case operates smoothly. It has a factory tow package which, in addition to the hitch, includes a stronger fan clutch. Driver and passenger airbags.
The truck is mostly stock although there are a few deviations. I installed a K&N Filter Charger intake system and will include the OEM airbox with the truck. At the same time I installed Air Lift Ride Control airbags on the rear springs. I put a rack system on the camper shell (Yakima Tracks, Control Towers/Landing Pads, Locks, and Crossbars). Last week, along w/ new struts for the liftgate, I installed an AUX adapter through the CD-changer port on the stereo; No more tape adapter to listen to music from my phone. I replaced both headlight housings w/ aftermarket units and also upgraded to HID lights. The truck has a Python alarm system (that I have never used) which gives the truck daytime running lights (not standard equipment until '03 or '04). The HID's are GREAT! I will include the OEM headlight housings w/ the truck. The Michelin tires are slightly over-sized from stock.
This is a really great Tacoma and has served me well. It is located in Roland, Arkansas, and is being sold as is, where is. There is no warranty expressed or implied. I'm happy to work with a shipping company or pick you up at the airport should you choose to fly and drive. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere in North America tomorrow. I will be changing the oil and rotating the tires next week.
Clear Washington title in hand.
