1999 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 Extra Cab V6 5 speed
1999 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Description
Thanks for looking, folks!
This is our '99 Extra Cab, TRD, 4x4, 3.4L, 5 speed Tacoma, and is in excellent shape! I've owned it for about the last 40,000 miles, and it has been a fantastic truck for me. I'm an ASE certified mechanic, with a good amount of experience with these trucks, and I've done my best to assure any items that needed attention were taken care of. Since I've owned it, I've replaced the steering rack with a brand new unit (it was leaking), brakes (including new rotors), clutch, clutch hydraulics, clutch pedal bushing (common failure on these), shift forks (they were worn, but the rest of the trans looked brand new inside), shifter bushings, driveshaft center support bearing, replaced the upholstery with high quality cloth, updated the stereo with new door speakers, improved amplification, and a subwoofer (previous owner installed 6x9 speakers in the rear panels, so they're already upgraded), replaced/upgraded the shocks, upgraded to Light Racing upper control arms, replaced the lower ball joints and tie rod ends, wheels and tires are nearly new, it was painted this year, and other general maintenance items have been kept up. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
This is one great truck! It's the TRD model, which has the electric locking rear differential, has custom rock sliders that are plenty strong enough to use to jack the truck up on the trail (saves the body when you use a high lift jack), the suspension has been lifted about 2", the body has a 3" lift to clear the tires and keep the body even further out of harm's way, it has an under-hood air compressor for airing up after a day on the trails, and I converted it to a highly useful flat bed. It runs and drives perfectly, and goes anywhere I care to go. The front suspension has urethane bushings and bump stops for solid location of the a-arms. It has great articulation for an IFS truck, and has proven extremely reliable for me. It has 237k miles on it, but there are no check engine lights, no issues with the running and driving, and I expect it will go many more miles with proper maintenance. The last one I sold (about ten years ago) now has over 400,000 miles on it, and is still going strong!
It could use a new side cover for the driver's seat (the plastic piece that covers the track), and the CV boots are showing some age, but they're still ok.
I would have absolutely no desire to sell it if we didn't go with the new Tundra. As it is, it doesn't get the use it deserves, so I'm ready to let it pass to a new enthusiast. This is one of the nicest, best-equipped first generation Tacomas you're likely to find, so grab it while it's still available!
I can deliver within 150 miles of 86314 on the weekends. Full payment is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. I accept cash, certified or personal checks (I will release the truck once the check has been verified as cleared by my bank). I still drive the truck about once a week, so mileage will change slightly.
