1983 Toyota Corolla Description
First owner purchase in December of 1982 and would be delighted to have a TOYOTA DEALERSHIP purchase the vehicle from us to display or use in Toyota marketing as a testament to extremely sound quality brand engineering and quality of construction. Vehicle was purchased Winterhaven Florida, where it was utilized for a year before becoming an Idaho Titled vehicle.
*Listed as a "Coupe" because it has 2 doors, pictured below is the 4 door version.
Runs like a top, attains approximately 35 miles per gallon, and has been extremely well maintained, and garaged at all times. There was a short period that the odometer/speedometer quit, and the vehicle was taken to the Idaho Falls Toyota dealership (before they moved out of Anderson Street location) where the unit was replaced and mileage started from zero. *Additional discussion pertaining to this 'issue' with serious interested parties.
We typically ran/run the car at a ("personal") top speed of 65 when using the car, as it was used a "commuter" vehicle on the highway for the majority of the metered miles.
Oil changes are documented and routinely accomplished at or before 3000 mile intervals, using Pennzoil or now Castrol (past 10 years approximately) 10w-40 or 10w-30 (as appropriate for climate) and all service maintenance (timing belts, transmission fluids, etc.) accomplished by Toyota Master mechanic.
Only aftermarket equipment = Pioneer am/fm multi CD changer + Cassette Tape system with 4 Polk Audio Speakers (great sound!), heavy-dutyfloor mats, custom Corolla windshield sunshade (included in trunk photo), all season tires with approximately 8000 miles on them, and this vehicle comes with 2 "barely used" snow tires.
The Corolla has a minor engine oil leak that has made it such that I have placed a drip pan under it to keep concrete floor of garage clean. My logic as follows: an interested buyer may wish to devote approximately $150-250 to repair the vehicle to new, however I have a desire to sell some of my 8 vehicles at this time, rather than continue to maintain them, despite the regular maintenance being really very little effort, and especially negligible cost to me.
Questions can be addressed via eBay messaging, and please include your telephone number if you would like to speak to me directly about the vehicle, shipping, or any other queries. I'm happy to entertain suggestions and discuss and/or negotiate where appropriate for serious potential buyers, as I would like to see this vehicle smoothly "go to a good home" and am happy to facilitate same.

Fourth Generation (1979-1983)
With a new chassis, the1979Corolla was a more sophisticated and satisfying car than any Corolla before it. But before this generation was through, it would get better still.
The 1979 Corolla finally dispensed with the rugged but primitive leaf spring rear suspension in favor of a more compliant coil spring system (the station wagon continued to use the leaves). The new unibody above that suspension was larger (the wheelbase was now 94.5 inches), stronger and more attractive in a boxy, clean-cut sort of way. A new 75-horsepower, 1.8-liter version of the OHV four powered the new Corolla with four- and five-speed manual and three-speed automatic transmissions available.
Particularly attractive during this generation was the SR5 in Sport Coupe, Hatchback and Liftback semiwagon configurations. With their effective use of detailing, they looked more expensive than they actually were.
While the1980and1981Corolla lines carried over from 1979 intact, in1982the automatic transmission was upgraded to a four-speed unit — a rare level of sophistication for an economy car of the era.
The big Corolla news for1983was a new 1.6-liter overhead cam engine that was both smoother and more powerful than the previous 1.8. But it was only a hint of what was to come next

A major restyle in March 1979 brought a square edged design. The Corollas had a simpler treatment of the grill, headlights and taillights while the Sprinter used a slightly more complex, sculptured treatment. The new A series engines were added to the range as a running change. This was the last model to use the K "hicam" and T series engines. Fuel injection* was introduced as an extra cost option on Japanese market vehicles.
