2005 Toyota Tacoma Base Crew Cab Pickup 4-Door 4.0L SR5
2005 Toyota Tacoma Base Crew Cab Pickup 4-Door Description
Here is my 2005 Tacoma I purchased in 2013 from a Toyota dealer. My 15th Toyota 4X4. I looked at several before purchasing this truck as I am quite particular about my vehicles. It was completely stock with 121k miles when I purchased it. I believe it had originally been a lease and then was bought out afterwards. The previous owner traded it for essentially the exact same truck. It had been previously received a lot of preventative maintenance (diff and transfer case oil changes, regular tune ups, frequent oil changes, etc.) and I continued that. Since I purchased it I have changed the diff and transfer case fluids every 20k miles, the transmission gets a drain and refill every 15k miles and I change the brake fluid every other year. Oil changes every 5k miles with Toyota filters and high-end liqui-moly 5W30 synthetic oil. Shortly after I purchased it I discovered the truck was misfiring slightly and sure enough it had a very slight head gasket leak in cylinder 6 causing it. I learned that was actually quite common on pre-2008 4.0 V6's. So still being under warranty I had the Toyota dealer change out both head gaskets. Essentially all the gaskets from heads up were replaced by Toyota at 122k miles. I have had zero issues since. Over the past few years I have replaced the pads/rotors/calipers/master cylinder and I have done a bunch of modifications to the truck as well. The truck has a basic Pioneer double-din head unit with bluetooth and it has Infinity Reference 6x9's in the front doors and 6.5's in the rear. It has Hella 700FF driving lights that are mounted on a custom rack that attaches to the radiator support. No holes in the truck at all to mount the lights. I also have installed a switch inline for the ABS relay so it can be switched off entirely. I HATE the ABS brakes in these trucks in the snow. It's downright dangerous. I also have some LED work/Bed lights installed in the bed of the truck, under the hood, and in the front wheel wells. They just stick on, so again no holes in the truck. The suspension is modified a bit. It has Bilstein 5100 shock absorbers, Old Man Emu 884 front springs, and a Wheeler's Off Road progressive 3 leaf Add-A-Leaf in the rear. It's about a 2 inch lift from stock. It also has SPC tubular adjustable control arms in the front so the alignment is correct. I actually had them dial in a little more caster for better tracking on the highway. And I also replaced the output bearing on the front differential out for an ECGS bushing so there are NO vibrations resulting from the suspension modifications. The truck drives awesome. Tires are 265/75/16 Hankook Dynapro ATM's with about 15k miles on them. I purchased the 16x8 American Racing AR-23 wheels the same time as the tires. Everything on this truck works like it should. A/C blows cold, it shifts perfect, drives perfect. No funny noises, no warning lights. I would drive this truck across country no hesitation. Honestly I was thinking I would keep this truck for another 100k miles as it's set up just the way I like. But currently I'm short on parking space and I could really use the money for a down payment on a new house. If nobody buys it I will be more than happy keeping it. But with a GTI and a motorcycle it's not getting used too much lately. By the way I'm not a kid and this truck isn't beat up at all. I'm 43 and I take ridiculously good care of my stuff. I'm just an enthusiast and can't leave anything alone. I used to commute in this truck 100 miles a day and I regularly saw 18MPG if I kept it under 70. The title is clean and clear, in my name. I have 2 factory keys with remotes. I do have the center caps for the wheels also. I will not take PayPal for this. Payment will be made either by cash in person or by bank wire transfer if you want to ship it. If you want to pay by bank check the truck goes nowhere and title doesn't get signed until the check clears COMPLETELY.Â
