1996 Toyota Land Cruiser Description

For Sale 1996 Toyota Landcruiser.

I bought the truck in March of 2009 when it was still mostly stock. The previous owner had put wheel spacers on it and added the 16" FJ Cruiser wheels. Over time I added the OME 3" Lift with Heavy Duty coil springs, the ARB Front Bumper and the Slee Dual Arm Rear Bumper with Spare Tire Carrier and combination Jerry Can Holder/Ladder. I took the wheel flares off to change the profile of the truck. Later, I put a remote start system in from Car Toys and the CB Radio with speaker and microphone. There's also a custom pet barrier that serves as an excellent mount point for tie downs and organizing cargo.

· Mechanically, the truck is in excellent condition. Its starts easily and runs smooth.

· Cosmetically, it's a 21 year old truck with some dings, rock chips and faded paint.

I'm selling it because I find my hobbies have changed and I no longer go camping like I used to and I never got into off-roading as much as I thought I would.

Here's the good and the bad

Bad: When I took the wheel flares off I had the bolt holes filled-in by an inexpensive body shop and the truck painted. Unfortunately, the paint job wasn't the best and some of the paint is now fading. I also should have put some mud flaps on the truck because it has some rock chips on the paint along the rocker panels. I believe the truck needs an O2 sensor or something because it didn't pass emissions - I registered it in a location where it's not required.

The black plastic window sill trim is starting to peel up. I checked and those run about $85 each. The driver's side plastic headlight cover has a crack. There's a little surface rust forming on the windshield wiper arm. Otherwise the truck is rust free. There's a pinstripe scrape down the passenger side of the truck from a tree branch. There's a ding on the inside of the driver's side back seat window frame from the previous owner. There's a small ding on the hood from what I presume was a football when I took the truck to a Bronco's game. It appears it could be popped out without too much trouble. The driver's seat is starting to show its age and the front passenger seat has split at the seam. The good news here is that I have a complete front and rear leather seat replacement kit worth about $1,000 that I'll include in the deal.

Good: This truck is fun to drive and always gets a lot of looks. This Landcruiser runs strong, shifts smooth and all the controls work as they should. The AC blows cold, windows roll up and down as they should and all the switches work. A few years ago I noticed a little oil on the ground, so I had both the front and rear main seals serviced. It does not leak oil. In preparation for this posting, I recently had a lot of brake work done, including brake booster, new calipers and pads. It has a brand new Napa battery. I have a ton of receipts for the service I've had done over the years, including regular oil changes. And finally, if you're looking at 80 Series Landcruisers, you're probably looking for one that has the much sought after manual Diff Lock switch which mine has. As I mentioned above, I have a very nice beige colored replacement leather seat kit for both front and back still in the original box. I'll include it in the deal. It probably cost me $1,000. I've also got a 6th FJ Cruiser wheel, unmounted with no tire that I'll include in the deal.

I have an excellent Ebay rating and I intend to keep it that way. I've done my best to describe the truck and point out all the things I would want to know. If you're looking for a solid truck and can look past a few cosmetic things, you'll be very happy with this one. I've got a reasonable reserve on it. I intend to list it locally, so I reserve the right to close the auction early. No warranties expressed or implied. If you're from out of state, I can assist with the logistics of the pickup, but transporting the truck is not included. I'm happy to respond to inquiries and questions, but I travel for work so I'm occasionally late getting back to people. Thanks for looking.
