1977 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ40 RUST-FREE BODY
1977 Toyota Land Cruiser Description
I purchased this FJ40 2 years ago with expectations of using it. My wife found it too difficult to get in and out of and I haven't driven it more than 100 miles in that time. It has been in a heated garage during the 2 years and has NOT been driven in the winter. With that said I have decided to sell it and let someone else enjoy it.
The FJ40 although a 1977 chassis, engine, and drive line had a rust-free body from a early 1960's FJ40 installed on the chassis. The FJ40 was from Oregon and the body was found in a warehouse/storage in California.
Here is a list of what I know about the FJ40.
- It is titled as a 1977 because that is the engine, chassis, and running gear. As a 1977 this means it comes with the 2F engine, the 4-speed transmission, and front disc brakes.
- It has the early 1960's FJ40 rust-free body installed on the chassis.
- The body was located in a warehouse/barn/storage and is totally rust-free meaning no rust and no rust repair.
- The front seats and upholstery are in excellent condition. The rear side seats need new upholstery as the material is dried and hard. Also the fronts are the dark gray/black and the rears are the oxblood in color.
- The ammeter did not work as the insulators on it were bad. There is now a digital volt gauge mounted in an existing hole in the dash next to the instrument panel.
- Both front doors need to have the seals replaced. The new seals are included in the sale.
- The rear lift gate also needs a new seal and that is included in the sale as well.
- It has a freeze plug style block heater for those cold winters.
- It has 4 new O.E.M. TLC wheels and 5 new General Grabber AT2 30x9.50R LT tires installed.
- The exhaust is new from the end of the front header pipe to the tailpipe.
- The wiring has been replaced with a harness from American Wire. Best quality wires and quality connectors.
- The oil and filter have been recently change using Valvoline VL1 10w30 Racing Oil for the zinc content needed by the flat tappet engine.
- An aftermarket soft top, frame, and side doors are also included. One of the plastic windows in the top is cracked and there is a rip in the vinyl in the same area. see picture with damage circled.
- There are new floor mats installed front and rear.
- The paint is decent with some chips.
- The Land Cruiser needs a good detailing and some T.L.C.
- It was missing the skid plate and I found one that was powder coated and will include that with the sale but it will need to be installed.
- New Optima battery.
- Actual mileage is unknown.
- This is NOT a show TLC FJ40 by any stretch of the imagination. But it is a nice rust-free unit.
