1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Description

**Relisted due to non-paying bidder.**
Up for auction is an extremely rare 1999 Toyota 4runner Highlander SUV. I spent several years looking for these options and, in 2012, flew out to California to pick this vehicle up. Due to my wife not being able to drive a 5-speed and having a 2 year old, this runner just sits in the garage all the time and I think it's time to sell. The reason this vehicle is considered by many to be the "holy grail" of 4runners:
  • 1999 Highlander edition (color matched bumpers, taller coil springs)
  • Leather interior
  • Factory locking rear differential
  • 5-speed manual transmission
  • Toyota made very few 4runners with the above options. While there are no exact figures available, these trucks are extremely scarce and hard to find. This particular vehicle has NEVER been off road and has NEVER been abused. Additionally, it is 100% stock, right down to the stock tape/CD player! Everything on this 4runner works, including the rear hatch window and A/C blows cold. This vehicle has no shimmy's, strange noises, or leaks of any kind. It drives down the road perfectly, I would not hesitate to drive this cross country. The clutch does not slip and brakes work well. I am including a brand new timing belt, water pump, and pulley kit with this vehicle as it's probably due for a replacement. Please note I have NOT used silicone sprays, undercoating, etc. in the pictures to hide or doctor anything up. What you see is what you get, the pictures speak for themselves.

    The Bad:

  • The sunroof seems to leak a little directly into the cupholders. There is no water damage or even any evidence of a leak, except after a hard rain the cupholders will have water in them. Because there was zero headliner damage, I have not looked into the reason, I'm guessing one of the drain tubes might be clogged.
  • The clear coat on the front bumper is starting to peel (it was like that when I bought it in California).
  • The front brakes could use replacement.
  • The passenger headlight has a rock chip.
  • There is a slight ding under the passenger side mirror, and another one just forward of the front passenger fender flare. Paint is not chipped. There is also a slight scratch near the bottom of the passenger door.
  • The drivers seat has typical 4runner wear on the seam.
  • Please note the odyssey battery does NOT come with the 4runner, I will include a different battery with the 4runner. Obviously as a vehicle that has 181,000 miles, it is not perfect and I try to describe it as honestly as possible. I do have an inspection report available to buyers that was done by the local Toyota dealer.
