2007 Toyota RAV4 Limited 4WD 4Cyl.- Original Owner - noisy bearing in rear end
2007 Toyota RAV4 Limited Description
2007 Toyota Rav4 Limited 4WD
Purchased New - Original Owner - Clear Title.
246,395 miles mostly highway commuter for many years - just got a new SUV, and have plenty of extra vehicles, otherwise I would replace rear bearing and keep it.
Has a growling sound from the rear bearing when making a slow, tight turn - research shows it is probably the rear differential coupling bearing, (there was a recall on them which expired before the noise was noticeable). I googled the part and they show up on ebay for $300 - 400 for the bearing. A dealer would obviously charge more...
Buyer should plan to pick up with a Flatbed/Car Transporter.Starts perfect and runs good.We run it around town with no issues, but I wouldn't be comfortable letting a buyer take it out on the highway for a long distance trip. If the bearing goes out completely it could damage the differential.Vehicle is located in North Wildwood, New Jersey.
Transmission was rebuilt with Jasper parts by Aamco at 210,000 miles. No issues.Tires are newer - see photos.New Alternator, Battery and Serpentine Belt in June 2017.A/C climate control works great. All electronics/power windows etc. all in working order.
Original Owner - vehicle had a minor accident in 2008. Was struck on left front while parked at a shopping center.Insurance claim and fully repaired to new condition.
Being Sold As Is - Starts easily, Runs Good, Newer Tires, Body good, (a bird dropped an egg on the hood recently - see photos), 246K miles, uses oil but only leaves a 1 inch spot when parked overnight...does not smoke (probably captured by Catalytic Converter), - biggest issue I'm aware of is the growling sound from the rear when making a tight turn at slow speed - research shows its probably the Rear Differential Coupling Bearing...there was a recall on it a couple years ago that we missed (because it wasnt making noise back then)..I have seen the part for $300-400 on ebay...would fix myself but just got a new SUV for my wife and she just wants to sell it. - We have no problem driving it around town as an extra vehicle, BUT I am not comfortable driving it on a long trip - UNLESS a buyer is local to the Southern New Jersey / Cape May County area, the Buyer should plan on picking it up with a Flatbed / Car Transporter just to be safe.
