1959 Volkswagen Cabriolet
1959 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic NO RESERVE Hotrod 1835cc RESTORED Bug Convertible Description
What an opportunity!
This is the kind of no-expenses-spared Rotisserie restoration that you see go for mid $30K or even above $40K at Barret Jackson... But I am faced with too many vehicles for my storage... and Winter is coming here in New England. So I will offer my beloved Beetle at NO RESERVE and will honor the winning bid regardless.
This is a really fantastic build. Completed about 6 years ago, an original 1959 Volkswagen Cabriolet was completely stripped, new floors were welded in, the entire assembly straight and rust free. The car was built up for SPEED... heat channels and heat exchangers were eliminated and a hotrod 1835 freshly built motor installed, mated to a rebuilt 1967 transaxle. The motor is outfitted with a pair of dual barrel Solex carbs, and these have just recently been dissembled, cleaned and balanced. The car starts, runs and stops brilliantly. The chassis is # 2264210 and the Engine is E849567.
The car was painted with PPG Porsche factory paint- color code M3W/E4- Carmen Metallic Red. Every single piece of trim on the car is brand new and when available German. The top is new Stayfast with new wood bows and a new German canvas headliner. The carpet is German Square weave- door panels and upholstery German made tweed sourced from Wolfsburg West. A Retrosound Radio is installed with a dual voice coil speaker in the factory location.
The is a CRAZY EXPENSIVE build. I doubt you could build the car for less than $50K, in fact I would not be surprised if it was much more. Everything is new and clean. The only things not brand new are the window frames, which are original and untouched and show considerable patina with some light bubbling. I usually drive the car with the top and windows down, but to make this a show winner I'd rechrome the window frames. ALL glass is good save for one tiny pockmark on the front windshield. ALL lights work great, car shifts well and has PLENTY of power! Not only can you keep up with modern traffic, you'll blow past people!
This car is fast and handles great around town, and cruises at 75 MPH on the high way. I think you'll agree this is a rare opportunity to find a car of this caliber without a VERY high asking price!
This is a NO RESERVE auction... highest bidder wins regardless. The car is for sale locally- so if you have a strong offer let me know and perhaps it will work out. The car is stored in my suburban Boston garage. I'm happy to show it to you any night or weekend. Good Luck!
