1968 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

Up for sale is a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle with 30000 miles on the clock since engine rebuild from previous owner. The car has a MK II empi kit which can be seen in pictures.
I have driven this car lightly for the past five years as a town car and it has been reliable for the entire time. The car has been serviced every two to three thousand miles by a professional VW specific shop in Manhattan Beach Ca since I have been the owner. That service included a general overlook of the car as well as Changing oil, adjusting valves, resetting points, and anything else that needed doing such as dialing in the Carb for smooth running and occasionally replacing axel boots. I will include a full service history with sale and will provide pictures of anything to anyone who wishes to see more. The only noticeable things I have had done to the Car is a new bosche starter motor and new flywheel both of which have about 5000 miles of use. I also upgraded to electronic points to avoid issues with the old points system. I have taken this car on two road trips up and down the california coast with no problems, I have avoided all desert driving in the car and as a result the engine has never overheated.
The previous owner restored all the wood in the car including the GT steering wheel. (my favourite part) The engine, Carburetor and transaxle were all rebuilt at the same time. I'll also mention that there is no gear grind with proper shifting and I do not forsee any transmission issues for quite a long time. The car gets between 20 and 30 mpg depending upon driving conditions.
The sunroof still works perfectly and is another of my favourite aspects to this car, the drains simply need to be cleaned every year or so to avoid leaking into the cabin. For those of you who know VW piano wire does the trick. The previous owner had the sun roof caulked so there is some residual gunk though none of it is restrictive in anyway.
The only negatives to this car that I am aware of is the small amount of damage behind the rear bumper, damage to the driver side fairing which can be banged out or replaced, and the need for a new paint job eventually (mostly due to clear coat fading). The pictures I have taken show the paint damage and wheel well damage in an unfavourable light. In person it is not very noticeable.
All in all I have been very happy with the car and it has served me well, this car is not show room condition but is in far better condition then most, as is apparent by the pictures and videos provided. The car is a good daily runner. I have kept up on all mechanical things so the only thing that may need doing is light cosmetics. If I were to keep the car for another ten years I would repaint it and replace the front two seats, but she doesn't quite need it.
The car is pick up only, which means if you wish to have it shipped you most provide the funds and means of transport if you do not pick it up yourself. Car will be released after full payment has been received. The black license plates are original 1968 and may be included by negotiation as they are personal plates owned by me.
Happy Bidding :D
