This auction is for one 1961 "Ragtop" Sunroof Beetle. It's an original sunroof car, not a grafted roof. It's a numbers matching chassis and body. A very solid beetle with great original floors and heater channels, no rust or rot even under the battery. It has been converted to 12 volts and has a great running 1974 1600cc dual port engine. It was customized in the 80's and features the "Cal-Look" accessories we all know so well today like: flared fiberglass fenders, EMPI 8 spoke wheels, Rossi style headlights, T-bar bumpers, billet dash plates, short T- handle shifter, EMPI GTV stripe kit, etc. This VW is a daily summer driver and gets smiles everywhere it goes. It recently had a new fuel tank with reserve valve replaced, a new starter and a new vinyl top. Everything works as it should except the heat. Because this was only a summer car, the heater boxes were removed and J tubes were installed on the exhaust. I also should note that the rear drums were converted to the 1968 style 4 lug drums for their increased brake shoe size for better braking. The front drums are still 1961 and have wheels adapters installed to accommodate the 4 lug wheels.
In closing, this VW is ready to go and is waiting for it's new owner. With just a little cleaning and some TLC, this sunroof VW will be a hit at any car show next season. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I have a very reasonable reserve set and hope it finds a great new home. I welcome any local buyers to inspect it in person, just email for an appointment. I will answer any questions or concerns, just ask. The car is registered and insured in the state of RI. It will be sold with a bill of sale and a copy of the current registration. RI doesn't title vehicles over 10 years old so check your local laws for any paperwork you may need. Buyers are responsible for shipping costs. I will assist any transport company you hire. A $500 deposit is required through paypal within 24 hours of the auctions end. The balance to be paid within 7 days with cash or a certified bank check. Thank you.
