1984 Volkswagen Rabbit L Description

1984 VW Rabbit Diesel. NO RUST!!!This car has been in Illinois for the last 6 years but has never been on the roads during the winter. It spent the previous 26 yrs in Florida. This car is my daily driver from April through October. During the warmer months I average 50-52 mpg. In the cooler months it's 44-49. Mileage also depends on how fast I drive it. I usually alwayskeep it under 60mph. I have had it up to 80mph and it cruises comfortably, (only did this once for about 30 minutes when I was in a hurry to catch my son's football game).Car actually has 222000 miles on it but I put a rebuilt gauge cluster in a couple years ago so mileage reads 184k. This car underwent a complete mechanical restoration 3-4 years ago. Nearly everything mechanical is new or rebuilt.

Here's what's been done,

Engines rebuilt, currently has 30000 miles on it. This included a new cylinder head, new fuel pump, new pistons, seals, gaskets, etc.

New clutch and pressure plate (30k miles)

resealed 4 speed transmission (30k miles)

new suspension, front and back, plus new a-arm bushings, (35k)

all new brake hardware, calipers, rotors, lines, (35k)

new radiator (30k)

new shift linkage (20k)

new battery (30k)

new windshield (12k)

new rubber around the doors and door windows (1k)

new alternator (8k)

new front left fender (7k) wife backed into it in the driveway

new complete exhaust (30k)

new parking brake cables (10k)

Here's what needs worked on,

tires are about half tread

head liner was removed and cardboard backer piece spray painted and put back in place, (I personally wouldn't change this)

needs painted, there is only 1 spot of surface rust on the rear hatch, everywhere else is super clean.

Ask whatever questions you can think of, I'm probably forgetting something.

forgot a couple things,

there is a set of 4 gold colored honeycomb wheels that go with it, see added picture

also a RH door and rear hatch if you want it

and I added a picture of my fuel mileage record just for giggles

1 more thing. I have a spare engine and 4sp transmission that go with it if you want it. It's the original engine and trans from this car, they have about 204k miles on them. Engine ran, but weakly.
