1978 Volkswagen Rabbit Description

Up for sale is my 1978diesel Rabbit built in West Germany. I bought this from the original owner who bought it new in Olympia, WA in 1978. This rabbit is in exceptional original shape and the ultra low mileage is documented. Zero auto accidents. Paint is original and body is untouched.This Rabbit runs and drives flawlessly.It has the ideal mixture of fuel economy(53mpg is the highest I have gotten, quickness, with a luxury ride on the highway!
This summer it got some major upgrades in the form of a 1600 long block (longer stroke) mated to the hard to find 5spd diesel specific 4S transmission(I still have the original 1.5l block/tranny). Full rebuild on the shiftter/linkage. New injectors, Giles Performance Diesel Injection pump (worth the $850 for 20%+ HP gain), racing exhaust (2 1/4 straight pipew/ resonator), injector lines, fast glow plugs / relay, valve cover gaskets, and an early NOS 80's K&N air filter. All sensors, relays, belts etc.have been replaced with NOS parts as well as a new radiator installed with all German hoses. New Toyo tires on original repainted wheels. No vacuum booster to deal with on this year/model!All work done professionally (with receipts) by the best old school Vdub mechanicin thePNW.
Interior is original with the exception of the reupholstered seats and the mechless Pioneer Bluetooth stereo system with 800 watt blaupunkt sub woofer speaker system (can be removed w/price reduction).
The word rare is over used but this rabbit definitely stands alone in terms of its originality, low mileage and overall mechanical condition. Please contact me with questions, offers, etc. I have over $10k invested in this build.
