Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible 1995 2.0L 140,660 miles, 1 owner
1995 Volkswagen Cabrio Description
I am the original owner of this 1995 VW Cabrio. The car runs great, but it has a few problems (see below). This car has been well maintained overall. I have all parts and maintenance records. I've used full synthetic oil for almost all oil changes.
Issues:
- The reason I am selling this car is that the heater core has a leak. I bypassed the heater core so the car would be drivable. There is currentlyno heat inside the car. I have the new heater core, but I don't have time to install it. I've been driving it this way for many years in the summer, but it really needs to be fixed. I have a manual and YouTube video on how to do the job, but it will be pretty time consuming.
- The front and rear struts need to be replaced. I have new ones that are ready to install.
- The rear brake shoes need to be replaced. I have the replacements.
- The boot on the power steering strut needs to be replaced. I have the replacement boot. It's not causing a problem, but the rubber is cracked.
- The rubber boots on the drive axle joints need to be replaced. I have the complete drive axle for the passenger side. Only the passenger side was bad when I purchased the parts, but the driver side rubber boots are also cracked. Replacing these is not required, but it's an easy job when replacing the struts.
- They probably didn't need to be replaced, but I bought complete control arms since replacing them would be easy while I was replacing the struts.
- The A/C compressor appears to have a slow leak. It lasted 3 years the last time I charged it, so it probably needs to be charged again.
- The motor mounts and transmission mounts need to be replaced. I have 2 of the mounts.
- The window switches for the front windows work intermittently. They need to be replaced. The rear window switches work fine.
- The AM/FM radio sounds really good when it works. Unfortunately, it recently started working intermittently. The CD player that was in the trunk died and has been removed. The connector is still there if you can find a replacement. The cassette player does not work.
- The timing belt was changed at 80K miles. The belt is supposed to be changed every 60K miles, but I recently inspected the belt and it still looks good.
- Like most old cars, it leaks a little oil.
- There is a tear in the driver's seat back.
- The car needs to be repainted.
