1975 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van
1975 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description
What we have here is an original 1975 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van. This vehicle was a barn find and rescued from a farm back in 2005. It was discovered with only 62,000 original miles and has since been on many fantastic road trips bringing the current total to 68,000 miles. We've tried as much as we possibly could to keep this van in the original condition in which it was found. Only what was necessary to make it mechanically sound and safe for the road was replaced. For fear of the fiberglass shell of the pop-top disintegrating in the sun, we decided it was necessary to have it refinished and brand new seals installed. This was professionally done in a restoration shop. The bumper and rims were done to match.
ConditionThe condition of the paint in the wheel wells and the underbody indicates that the odometer in this vehicle has not rolled over which suggests that this is a true survivor with only 68,000 miles. I have included pictures of the inside of each wheel and both frame rails to show just how clean the body of this van is. Aside from a few touch-ups on dents and chips over the years, all of the orange paint on the vehicle is completely factory original. This includes the entire inside, outside, and underbody. If you ever dreamed of the chance to buy a near mint factory original Volkswagen van, this is IT!
No Evidence of rust or rust repair havebeen foundInterior carpet and upholstery is original orange plaidNew black-out curtainsVehicle is tobacco smoke-freeVehicle starts good, runs well, and drives niceBrakes and tires are brand newGas tank was removed and steam cleaned before being reinstalledAll filters have been replaced
Despite the remarkable state of this van, after 41 years there are some minor odds and ends that do not function like new. These include the sliding door only locking from the inside, the fuel gauge not working, etc. Pop-top is original and in good working condition, however some tears in the canvas have been patched and there has been some sun fading over the years. The van is in used condition therefore some defects are to be expected. Parking lot dents, scrapes, etc.
