1956 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description

This car was bought by an women in 1956.When she ordered the car she added a rooflight, abbarth accelerator, twin Bosch horn and a Bosch window wash and a radio along with the seat covers over the interior. The lady lived in the north of Sweden were there is a lot of moose and rain deers on the road so she wanted to drive safely.
The car was also sprayed underneath for rustproofing.
She only drove the car for shopping and such thing except for 1957 when they took the car for a holiday to the town of Hedemora I the middle of Sweden. The holiday's goal was to see the tt Grand Prix in Hedemora.( Hedemora is also my hometown)
She would always wash the car after a ride. And those rides weren't a lot. 55000km on the speedo!!!!!!!!!!!
In 1966-07-23 the car was out for the last time. She was going to buy the newspaper,BUT the car stopped and it would not start again. The car was towed home and they put it in the barn.
They took away the carburetor to get it clean. But no reaction to start. Then they got a tip from a neighbor that the driveshaft for the distributor have been damaged. So they bought a new one but the car would not start again.
They bought a new car because this one didn't run.
The car sat in the barn and after 1 year they bought a new engine and they never put it in.
The car sat in the barn until the old lady died and her niece put it for sale.
I got my hands on the car in July 2015. I bought it over the phone and went to collect it.
i drove to the north of Sweden to collect it. When I opened up the barn I though I was in heaven. The car was amazing!!!!!!!
I got it up on the trailer, got the new engine in the luggage of my car and drove home.
I bought a new battery clean out the carburetor and trying to start it. It just keeps missfire. Then I remember what the nice told me about the parts they bought for the car.Inside the car I find the distributor shaft along with the receipt for it.
I took the distributor of and found the the new shaft were fitted 180 degrees wrong. Took it out and fitted it all back.
AND THE CAR STARTED!!!!!!!!
I carefully restored the brakes. Greased the front wheelbearing. Checked all oils and drove it for the first time in 50 years.
Now the car just sits in my barn again. I don't dare to use it. It's to perfect to be on the roads and get more kilometers to the speedometer.
All the documentary of the car was in the car. The newspaper they bought when the car stopped running. The tickets to tt grand prix in Hedemora from the vacation was found under the seat. And the distributorshaft and receipt was found in the luggage compartment under rear window.
All the thing the niece told me at the barn when I collected it came out to be true.
The car has no rust. It has first paint everywhere. It also drove on the original tyres when I bought it. Now I fitted new ww radials.
I drove the car to a VW meeting and got I nice award with me. Best car
