Prior to the introduction of the CC and Phaeton, the W8 Passat was considered and marketed as the premier VW, and received better reviews than 50% of the luxury class Audis, also owned by Volkswagen.
What's even more fantastic about this 8-cylinder demon is the 4.0 Liter 271 Horsepower 270 lb:ft torque W8 power-plant paired with the handling of 4motion all-wheel drive. Coupled with the 5-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual, this car delivers 0-60 mph 6.41 seconds
and can do the 1/4 mile in 14.87 seconds at 90.06 mph. In short, it moves. It gets approximately 23.5 MPG highway and in city driving averages about 21 mpg. Other features include multi-function control leather wrapped steering wheel, 5 stage front heated seats, sunroof, rear window shade, multi adjust front power seats, 3 memory settings on driver seat and rear center pass through. This vehicle has a clean Ohio title and no known accidents.
Condition: The body and frame/undercarriage are clean, but worn. The paint shows its age and has dulled, however a good buffing and waxing would probably restore a lot to this black beauty. There is no rust or major dents. A couple of the front end trim pieces are gone, but do not affect performance. The interior is poor, and while functional, the seat upholstery is torn and dirty and we would recommend swapping out the seats, available from any donor Passat. The A/C blows, but not cold. Oil changes were done regularly and the transmission was replaced 12 months ago by DubWerks, who handled all major maintenance during my ownership.Looking online, you can find the engine alone goes for $2,000.
Price reasonably reflects rarity, mechanical and cosmetic condition.
