2001 Volkswagen Beetle-New GLS TDI Description

This Vehicle is sold as is.

It has a number of items wrong with it, and I'll do my best to share them all so you can make an informed decision.

I am the only owner this car has ever had.

This car was rear ended several times. Once I hit a pole in a parking structure on the passenger side front. I think that's it. It has never deployed it's airbags. And allaccidents were repaired by professional body shops.

I believe it has issues with it's electrical harness (I never confirmed this, but it is my guess)

It currently has no blinkers or speedo.

Engine is in pretty good shape I believe, but misfires occasionally likely due to my adjusting the fuel injection without proper tools. This causes the check engine light to come on. However if you clear the code and do emissions it will last long enough that you pass :).

The hood hydraulic lift has/is failing so it doesn't stay open without something to prop it open now. I use a stick.

The orange plastic oil dipstick guide is loose.

Timing belt was done fairly recently, so you should be good there for a while.

There is a metal bar that has fallen off of the passenger side rubber grommet it sits on, but someone should be able to fix that without too much effort. It does cause a loud clunk when you make sharp turns. See attached picture.

Wheels are all alloy, but someone ripped theVW symbols off of them.

Rear Drivers side brake light is intermittent. Every time I go to fix it, it is working. Go figure.

Parking break button was broken off, still works for me, but it's harder to push. Same on the glove compartment, the lever to open it broke off, and now I just press the latches with my hand to open it.

Arm rest falls.

The vent system is letting foam go.

I live in Arizona so I never use it, but I believe the windshield washer sprayers aren't working.

There is some cosmetic marking on the body panels, but it could all likely be buffed out and have good panels all round.

I lost my fog lights some time back to a tall curb.

Battery is still pretty new.

There is an optical imperfection in the windshield, but unless your really tall, you won't ever even notice it.

This car has the cold weather package, so heated seats and side mirrors. Also has a power sunroof/moonroof that still works great.

This car has a trailer hitch. Very few of those in captivity on a beetle.

I am a tall guy, one of three I know that use beetles because of the surprising amount of headroom for the driver and passenger.

It's not a bad car, but it does need some work.It starts reliably and gets me around town reliably.

Hey, at least you know with my car I told you about everything I know about after owning the car since late 2000. Good luck figuring out everything on the other guy's car!

I had intended to own this car forever, and just keep touching it up as needed, but we need a 5 seat car now, and this is only a 4 seat car. So it's time to sell the thing and buy a 5 seat car. I'm dreading it, because this is the devil I know.

As such we have a number of parts and tools that can be used to work on maintain etc.

1)a real Ross-Tech LLC Vag-com still in it's orginal box with a return address of the company still on the label (I bought it myself from the real company at whatever they charged at the time).
Bently Publisher's New Beetle 1998-2009 Repair Manual (DVD)
Sadly this works with Windows XP, so you'll likely need to spin up a virtual machine to use it. It also requires 256M of ram and IE explorer 6 or 7. Then it says up to 700MB per vehicle platform.
I'm fairly sure you will need to call their support and get new license serial numbers as they can only be used once, and I've used at least 4 personally when I accidently delete my virtual machine that it is sitting on. (I run windows 10 and use hyper-v)
I originally paid 469.83 for them back on 05/10/2011.
On the invoice it is listed as VCDS License with HEX-USB+CAN interface.
2)I'm selling the A4/NB Timing Belt Tool Kit (7 piece) It was used once, and worked great for me. Original Price $222.00 SKU - MNA4KIT7PC
3)Limp Mode Repair Kit.

4)Break caliper reset tool from metal nerd.

5)A few other odds and ends specific to working on the car.
