BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC 1978 VOLKSWAGON BEETLE CONVERTIBLE
1978 CLASSIC VW BEETLE CONVERTIBLE, a beautiful car that is FUN, FUN, FUN….a real head turner! I purchased this Beetle a year ago, fixed some minor issues, did a major cleaning and detailing job, and enjoyed a lot of driving.
The paint on the car is a beautiful, bright silver metallic. Much sharper in person than in the pictures, it almost looks like chrome! It has a standard VW Black Interior in Excellent condition.Seats, carpet, dash, door panels are all in Excellent condition.ALL of the electrical works as it should. The windshield has been replaced sometime in its life, all the rest of the glass is ORIGINAL and in excellent condition. The radio is an aftermarket and works great. The running boards are billet aluminum. The convertible top is a High End Padded Canvas version in perfect condition with a glass rear window. As pictured, the original convertible boot, in excellent condition, is included. The body is in really solid shape with a few exceptions:An area below the trunk lid on the rear had a big chunk of paint come off due to a bump.It has been touched up as you can see in the pictures. The right rear fender has become thin and has cracked at the edge…but is still pretty solid and still looks good. There are a few areas on the body where the paint has some very small bubbles in it…mainly the lower door area. This does not seem to be getting worse or causing any problems…still VERY solid. You have to get REAL close to see most of these paint issues!!The Chrome trim and Bumpers are GREAT!
As best as I can tell from the last owner and the paperwork I have, this Beetle went thru a COMPLETE restoration in California in the early 2000’s.Including a complete engine rebuild. The engine runs great and has PLENTY of power for a Beetle. The only modification I have found to the original engine is the TWO barrel Dellorto DHLA carburetor that was installed.A little cold blooded at first but it runs fantastic when warmed up.After the restoration it was brought to this area of Illinois and spent most of its time in the garage, covered up.In 2006 it had 23,539 miles on the odometer, it now shows 25,544.
