2005 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI (New Tires, Bluetooth Stereo and Calls)
2005 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI Description
The only reason I am selling the Jetta is that we only need one vehicle now. We both work at the same location and we will be moving within walking distance of our employer. The Jetta runs great and has excellent fuel mileage.
It has never been wrecked or in an accident.- History:My wife has been the only owner of this car. It was purchased brand new at end of 2004 by her father (in Arkansas) and she has been the only owner ever since. It was in Arkansas from 2005 to 2012 (salt free roads). It has been in Ohio from 2013 until now. We wash it often in the winter to keep the salt off of it and prevent rust. No rust so far!
- Benefits:
- Never been wrecked or in an accident
- 45 miles per gallon highway / 35 city!
- New Tires
- 2 new tires installed 5,000 miles ago (BF GoodRich Advantage T/A)
- The other two tires have 24,241 miles on them (BF GoodRich Touring T/A). There is still plenty of tread left.
- Windows tinted
- Sunroof, leather seats, heated front seats
- Stereo
- Brand new Kenwood KDC-X599 Bluetooth, MP3, CD player installed 6 months ago
- Microphone installed on the ceiling to allow hands free bluetooth calls through the stereo. Works very well!
- Maintenance:
- We have always had all of the recommended scheduled maintenance done on the car at the recommended mileage.
- Just had the CMOS sensor replaced and the car runs like a charm.
- Alternator drive belt was replaced September 2016 as a preventative measure before we went on a long trip.
- Rear brake pads and rotors replaced December 2015.
- Issues:
- Doors lock, but not with remote or button on driver door:
- It is random. Sometimes they will all lock with the driver door button, but they do not lock with the remote.
- We have dealt with this for a long time simply by pushing the locks down with our hand before we get out of the car.
- The alarm system still works so I never wanted to spend the extra money to have the door locks replaced.
- There are no other electrical issues, it is a problem with the actual locking mechanism in the doors.
- Back seat middle seat belt is torn.
- All the other seat belts are good. If you care about this, it should be a cheap fix from a junk yard. Just get another one and replace it. I have absolutely no need for the middle seat belt so I didn't care to replace it.
- Radio antenna broke off
- Garage door was not all the way open and it caught the top of the antenna and snapped it off. I sourced a replacement for $15, but after I installed the new radio in the car, the radio reception is so good that I didn't need the antenna.
- Small hole in leather of the pocket on the backside of the passenger seat (about the size of a quarter). This is the pocket used to store items.
