2000 Volkswagen Cabrio GL Description

I teach automotive technology at a local trade school, and am a former VW mechanic who has always loved convertibles. I recently fell in love with the amateur motorsport of autocross. So, naturally, I started plotting my “ultimate open-GTi build, for which I’d use for daily driving and weekend autocross.
To that end, I went searching for the cleanest, manually-shifted, Cabrio I could find to use as my base car. After looking at dozens of them, I bought this Cabrio because it’s in exceptional condition with:

-NO RUST
-NO
ACCIDENTS
-TORONADO RED PAINT THAT SHINES LIKE NEW
-CONVERTIBLE TOP IS WATER-TIGHT AND ITSELF IS ALMOST NEW
-CAR IS QUIET

-NO “
CHECK ENGINE” – OR ANY OTHER DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED
- IN SHORT, ITS A GOOD ONE

The previous owner was quite a large woman, and although all of the upholstery is in great shape, her considerable girth did flatten the foam in the driver seat. This causes the driver seat to be somewhatuncomfortable, if no less functional. Included in the buy it now price is a pair of Porsche front seats that can be retrofitted. The right front window regulator is also slowly failing. It works OK now, but it will need that part in the future. I have abandoned my idea of building an open GTI when I suddenly and unexpectedly inherited a 1997 Porsche Boxster.

Picture of me flogging the Boxster on Lime Rock's autocross course is for illustration only. The Porsche is NOT ncluded in this auction in any way; this auction is for the red 2000 VW Cabrio ONLY. Not the Porsche or a piece of the space shuttle or my mom's apple pie. Just the Cabrio. The car is being sold as is, where is with no warranty either written, express, or implied. That said, pre-purchase inspections are both welcomed and encouraged. This car will not disappoint you, and I would trust it to take me across the country. To be clear, I have not participatedin any motor sports of any kind, amateur or professional or otherwise in this Cabrio. And, with the exception of the 15 inch Porsche 944 wheels I fitted with new tires(tires which were an optional size for this car when it was new,) the car remains 100% stock and in original condition.
