1974 Karmann Ghia
1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Description
I bought this car as a project car to start in December. I was going to just take the body off, throw on some new floor pans, work the body back on and go from there. These cars are relatively easy to restore. This makes my 5th one.December has come and gone and my slow season at work is starting to end. I don't have the time or space to finish it out. This car has some incredible potential to be a beautiful ride.It will need some work though. It has rust in the traditional spots, rockers and corners. It also has a front left fender that was welded on by a previous owner. The alignment is good but will need some work on the welds. The drivers side door has a rusted out drip rail. I saw one for sale that was in great shape and bought it to replace the other. It comes with the auction as well. The back right fender was wrecked but again the previous owner has used a dent puller and pulled most of it out. It will definitely still need some attention. The sanded off portions of the paint were done by the previous owner. The nose has no dings and is in great shape.Floor pans aren't horrible. I've seen a LOT worse. They're relatively easy to replace and I always suggest doing it if you're doing a restore. The engine turns. I haven't fired it up but just turning tells me that it's not seized. Will need new hoses, carburetor cleaned, I'd just check the gas tank to make sure and a battery...The interior of the car is shot but the seat frames are still good. Dash will need new covers on it like any restore. There's a plastic bin inside the car full of turn signals, headlight rings, tail lights etc.All glass is in the back seat of the car and seems to be in good condition as well.I'd love to dig into this one but time restraints are killing me. My loss is your gain.Starting this auction off low. I just really need my whse space back. The car is stored inside right now
