2005 Volkswagen Phaeton V8 Sedan 4-Door Description

Hello, if you're reading this then you have great taste in cars! You are bidding on a gorgeous Phaeton. The car is hand assembled in the same factory where they make the Bentley Flying Spur (because VW owns Bentley). So, it has a lot of the same parts as a Bentley: same seats, same sound system, and same chassis. The Phaeton is VW's most expensive and well built car ever sold. It was the CEO's retirement gift to himself. Before he left VW, he wanted to make "the best car known to man" and in many ways VW succeeded. This car was way ahead of it's time. It was originally a $120,000 dollar vehicle.
4.2L V8, 335hp (same engine as Audi A8).
4motion all wheel drive.
This Phaeton in particular has an interesting history. The original owner had it for 2 years and put about 50kmiles. Then VW bought it back from the owner due to "Manufacturer Buyback." I am not sure what the recall was, but whatever it was VW fixed it. And the VW dealer decided to keep it and put 100k miles on it. The previous owner and I think it was either the manager's car or a VIP loaner car. It was then bought by a gentleman at an auction, and I bought it from him. It now has 198,650 miles on it. So, for 100k miles (half the cars life) it was dealer maintained. I would argue that it could go another 100k miles if it is properly cared for.
Upgrades:
-4 brand new tires
-Brand new headliner
-Muffler delete (really allows you to hear that powerful v8). But, if you want a quieter ride, you can allows throw a muffler back on there for about $150.
-In the pictures are screen shots of the excel service history from the previous owner. And I have continued it on, starting with the Purge valve all the wayon down. I can email you this excel and a vehicle history report if you request it.
Cons:
-Passenger side headlight bulb flickers on and off, and eventually just goes dark after the car has been driving for 30 minutes or longer.
-Bad battery connection or weak battery. Sometimes, when the car has been parked for a while (like overnight) then it will act like it is dead on the first crank, but then if you turn the key off and try cranking again it starts up no problem. Not a big deal, just kind of annoying. -Check engine light is on (due to O2 sensor I believe).-TPMS Light is on-Check headlight range control light is on (due to flickering headlight bulb mentioned above).-Rear window shade motor does not work-Passenger side back window regulator doesn't work
Cosmetically the car is 8/10. It has fairly new paint on the roof, hood, and top of trunk. The previous owner spent $2500 for this paint job. The inside is gorgeous. The leather seats are still in pretty good condition. Just some slight wear on the driver's side seat back, and right side of back seats. The only reason I have seat covers on is to help protect the seats from wearing any more. The aluminum alloy rims have a little bit of road rash along the edges, but only noticeable up close. Passenger side mirror has thin crack in the glass.
Bid with confidence! My only negative review is from a guy who was angry that a vintage album I sold his had some wear on the record sleeve. Otherwise I would have 100% positive feedback.
Only reason I am selling is because I need a truck.
