Real Deal no-reserve auction. Opening bid is about what it would take to sort out a decent example, assuming you could find one. Please don't ask for early end to bidding process just bid what you think is fair and let the chips fall.
Before you read the details, "consider the source"
I've been providing accurate descriptions on eBay motors for 14 years listing vehicles for family, friends and estates. My certified-mechanic partner Tom (one of the last honest mechanics in the lower 48) goes over the cars we offer and addresses functional, operational and safety issues. If we decide not to repair something we tell you about it (what a concept, eh)? We furnish pictures of the underside of the car since that's where most of the money typically gets spent on used cars. It appears that most sellers don't think that's important or, hey, maybe don't want you to think about it?. We look at it the other way around. I try to cover good-bad-ugly-or-worse so you can make an informed bidding decision but I'll get you a prompt e-mail if you need any more detail and of course, 3rd party inspections are always welcome.
I am a mechanical engineer with 40 yrs experience in the vehicle industry I take full responsibility for my descriptions and enjoy Mother-Teresa quality feed-back by making sure there are no surprises at delivery. So no 'free' TV’s, and no suspenseful consultations with “the sales manager” (that’s me)! Just pay what you bid and I'll make sure everything goes smoothly from there.
Driving Impressions
I'd be surprised if you can tell this one has gone 180k. Front end is tight, brakes are smooth, solid and progressive with straight stops, tires are quiet (unless you really want to see how tight that front end is)! Starts right up and goes thru the gears quietly right up to hands-off-the-wheel straight ahead at, well, above legal speed. No shakes, rattles or shimmies to report.
Summary
Car is very solid and complete including very clean underside
Doors open and close smoothly, no sag, good panel gaps as shown in photos.
No evidence of smoking, clean interior with no rips or holes in seats or carpets.
Front-end overhaul just done:
-lower control arm bushes
-ball joints
-wheel bearings
-tie rods
-2 new Hankook tires (good tread-match to the VG rear Continentals)
Oil & filter change, other filters inspected good
Exhaust is solid, tight and as Tom says "sounds like a Golf"
Crisp-shifting 5-spd with solid non-slipping clutch
ALL ELECTRICALS AND ACCESSORIES working as expected
A/C blows at least cool with no observed issues
Front and rear hydraulic lift cylinders hold hood and tailgate open (don't see that very often on a car this age)
Emergency brake working
No check engine light or service warnings
Current on Ohio e-check
2-key fobs plus valet key (you'll need that at the country club)
There is a pack of service records thicker than my son 'Crash's' speeding ticket collection illustrating regular service including:
Timing Belt/water pump service around 115K
Regular oil changes and basic service
Cosmetic Defects...er, you know, 'patina'?
Missing driver's side floor mat
Horizontal crack in windshield on bottom of passenger side
50-cent piece sized (remember those)? ding in roof through the paint
Scrapes on bumpers
Paint giving it up around wheel wells
A few other knicks and bruises not thru the paint
Glove compartment latch gave it up so we have it fixed closed
The driver's side mirror has been epoxied so it no longer folds in but the electric adjuster works fine on both mirrors.
Scammers?
Don’t even think about it! No bundled shipping and I don’t care if you are in the merchant marine or your late dad was the president of Sri Lanka--No PayPal account? We aren’t doing business, period. Also please practice your English on more gullible sellers. The boiler rooms you guys call from are so noisy these days I can hear your buddies in the background asking the same stupid scammer questions: “So why are you selling your er... ‘item' My advise is 'get a real job'.
