1973 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description

Up for sale is our VERY SPECIAL and RARE 1973 VW sunroof bus which is also an automatic! 2 very rare options for this year.

This bus runs and drives well and has new brakes. We just pulled it from dry storage and freshened it up with a tune up, brakes, fluid changes, painted bumpers and a few motor adjustments.

We believe from our research that this was the 193rd bus made in 1973 which was the new body style that carried on until 1979. The vin is: 2232100193. The last 5 digits are the production number from what we gather.

The condition and originality of the bus are VERY nice. Overall the bus is very solid and well-preserved and without rust for the most part.. But has a few spots on the body where the paint wore down or was scratched and was touched up. Some would say it needs paint but we enjoy the originality of it and are fine with some imperfections and obvious paint touch ups.

The interior is like stepping back into time. It seats , has the original AM radio (works great) and aside from the passenger seat needing reupholstery and one of the seat bottoms in very back seat having a hole- the interior is very nice solid and complete.

The sunroof works perfectly and cranks back and forth as it should.

The tires are in VERY good shape with good tread and without cracks BUT I happen to know they are older so I would recommend replacing or getting them checked before a long road trip to ensure they are still good.

As for functionality, it has optional disc brakes in front. All gauges and lights work. It shifts nice and drives very nice as well.

We love this bus but currently have too many so we are selling to someone who can enjoy. I would put this bus up against any 73 to compare options and originality.
