2002 TDI New Beetle w/ Turbo S Body
2002 Volkswagen Beetle-New TDI Description
Attention Please: Do NOT bid if you are not willing to buy. First auction of this Beetle immediately resulted in buyer telling me he made a mistake with his bid and didn't want to buy.
I am moving out of state and have decided to sell my wife's Beetle. Reason selling is she has arthritis and needs an automatic. Now that we are moving it is time to sell the Beetle. Buy with confidence and drive this home anywhere in the country, I would!
This is a 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle with the TDI engine. TDI stands for Turbo Diesel Injection. It is very fuel efficient and has a very good amount of torque and power. It has been tuned professionally by RocketChip and is a very quick car. The technician from rocketchip.com tuned it in person using the stage 2 tune. This is NOT a plug in tune, this is the real deal. It was customized specifically for this car and its upgrades. The injectors have been upgraded to Sprint 520 nozzles. With the tune fuel mileage is consistently between 38-43 mpg. This depends on how much city and highway driving. Also has a free flow muffler. Sounds very sporty and not stupid loud. For a 14 year old car it is a little rough around the edges but overall a nice car. The body has imperfections like scratches, no noticeable dents. The front bumper has what appears is a large water stain. From 10 ft away the car looks really good! The bumpers are from a Turbo S model making this quite unique. I bought the car from Texas and it remains in great NO RUST condition. Since I've owned it I have replaced the clutch with a VW VR6 clutch to handle the power from the tune. I had Koni shocks installed about 4 years ago. The car is very tight to drive, feels great and is not spongy, hard and/or harsh, it is really solid. New brake pads last year. New alternator and starter. Intake manifold has been cleaned to new condition at Jon's Auto in Marysville, OH. A block off plate was installed to eliminate future carbon buildup in the intake manifold. This is a common TDI maintenance item but this is now solved. The EGR valve lets out a slight rattle/whistle from this and the tune but it is very slight. Both Jon and the rocketchip.com technician stated they were amazed at how healthy the turbo was and how much boost it is capable of generating. I have experienced zero turbo problems. The car does consume about a quart of oil after about 5 fuel fill ups, that's a pretty long time. The Beetle also has a new GPS Navigation system radio with CD DVD player. Also has bluetooth connection to your phone for playing music. A camera is wired in for the rear view but needs finished installing. New glow plugs and harness. A/C serviced this summer at Valvoline Instant Oil Change. Thinking at first we were going to take the Beetle to Arizona, I professionally wired a switch inside the Beetle that turns on the A/C fans on high. This gives really cold air conditioning and I recommend running these fans on high whenever the A/C is operated. I love this feature. I have done all oil changes myself religiously using Rotella T Synthetic Oil 5w-40. New engine intake air filter and cabin air filter. Tires 3 years old. Definitely tread depth good for another winter. Has lifetime alignment service at any Firestone auto shop which I will pass on to the buyer. The timing belt was changed by the previous owner at an unknown mileage. I have the timing belt inspected every year and it is still healthy. They are good for 90,000 miles. I purchased the car at 177,000 in 2010 and have put 54,000 miles on it. I had questions from bidders about the wheels and tires, the tires are size 225-45-17 and the wheels do have considerable curb rash or scratches/scuffs. But as you can see they still look good. Interior condition is fair, the center arm rest needs replaced, there is leather wear on the shifter, a piece of plastic is broken off of the seat belt driver latch but this does NOT effect its use. No check engine lights are on, no air bag lights, no ABS lights, the car is in great mechanical condition. All headlights, turn signals, running lights, fog lights, all work. Power windows, power locks, heated seats, cruise control, all works! Sunroof works great! The headliner needs a good cleaning. I have 1 remote key that works but needs a new battery and/or remote programmed and 1 valet key. Both keys start the car, the remote key does NOT need totally programmed, just the remote or maybe just new battery. I have done my best here to tell you all about this vehicle. Please ask any and all questions. This vehicle will be sold as is. Vehicle is being sold in Dublin, OH just outside of Columbus, OH. I really have loved this car and I love driving it. You will too! Do not bid unless you are really going to buy.
