1996 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon 4-Door Description

Mechanics Special This 1996 Volvo 850 Wagon runs and drives but the automatic transmission is suspect. First gear is just starting to grind some and you need to drive gently so it shifts up to second smoothly then you can drive like normal it is only the first gear and reverse that are making grinding sounds when in those gears. How far one could drive a transmission like this is any ones guess 50, 5,000 miles you just don't know, it could be more or less, it depends on how you drive it. The car was owned by 2 owners in its lifetime. This vehicle was serviced regularly and has new rear brakes on it. The body is in nice condition but there is some rust occurring around the drivers side wheel wells and the driver door bottom edge. The front hood has a small spot of chipped paint just above the latch. Overall body condition is nice for its age. The mileage counter stopped at 149,303. and I have kept a diary log since then of all gas fill ups to guesstimate the miles driven by the amount of gas used on a 24 mile a gallon calculation, As of now it has about 187.000 miles on it. The leather interior seats are in good condition. This vehicle has been serviced regularly and all receipts have been saved in a folder and go with the vehicle. This car runs and drives good. Except for the transmission starting to show its age. Good project car for restoration or parts. Thanks for looking
