1987 Volvo 240 Description

You are bidding on an all original 1987 Volvo 240 DL Sedan. Acquired from a family estate, this is a California car with NO rust anywhere! Clean California title in hand. Clean carfax showing original miles. Carfax also shows "Gross Polluter" which in California means it did not pass smog inspection. When I acquired it, I replaced all plugs, points, wires, catalytic convertor and gave it a complete tune-up. It finally passed California smog inspection which means it will probably pass emissons inspection anywhere! These cars were over engineered in their day and will probably still be running long after humans are extinct! Good luck in your bidding!
Engine:
Engine starts up effortlessly with one crank! Accelerates smoothly with no missing, no hesitation and no pinging. Temperature gauge never rises past halfway mark. Oil residue under the engine, but I have yet to find a drop of oil on my garage floor.
Transmission:
Transmission shifts from park to drive and back to park smoothly. No clunking, no hesitation and no harsh vibration. Shifts up and down through the gears smoothly. No hard shifting and no slipping.
Paint/Body:
Paint appears to be original. Still has a nice shine to it. No obvious signs of body work anywhere. Body shows a couple of dents. No rust anywhere. Shopping cart damage etc. But over all in great original shape.
Tires/Brakes:
Tires are about 50% tread left. Front are worn on outer tread. They probably have 5-10K miles of life left. Brakes are at 70%. Stops in a straight line. No pulling. No brake chatter. No vibration at all.
Interior/Trim:
The dash is the only area I would say is not 100%. Normal cracks that most 30 year old cars tend to display. Rear partial shelf is good, but rear seat belt housing at top of seats are sun rotted. Seats, carpets, door panels center console, headliner, all in perfect condition. Air conditioner works, but is still running R-12. Would need to find R-12 or convert to R134. About $300 here in California. I acquired radio with face plate missing. So for the record, radio is not working.
