1991 Volvo 240 Description
NO RESERVE! Starting at $50 to cover my listing fee, and let the best bid win! This is my 1991 Volvo 240. I bought this low-mileage Volvo 240 to keep forever, but things have changed and I'm moving to another city and won't have time to fix it. If you are looking at this I suspect you are familiar with these legendary cars, rated by many as the best car ever made and logging 400k-500k miles on original engines and transmissions. First the bad news. I was traveling in the car and filled up at a mom-and-pop and got some bad gas. The convertor clogged, so I stopped, drilled some holes in it, and drove the car normally home. That bad gas caused some other fuel-related issue(s) that I haven't tracked down yet. So far, I tuned the car (cap, rotor, plugs), replaced the fuel pump and filter, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, checked for breaks in the hose from the MAF to the throttle body, checked the vacuum line to the pressure regulator, cleaned the throttle body. I suspect it is the fuel pressure regulator but have not been, and will not be able to, replace it before I move. The car will not idle without manipulating the throttle, but will run well at speeds. So long story short, it will take some sleuthing but if you're a 240 person you'll get it licked.
Now the good news: it is seldom you see a 240 with only 138,000 on it. This car is 25 years old. When I got it 3 years ago it had 132k on it and I immediately switched to full synthetic. It does not burn or leak a single drop. The car no longer has a catalytic convertor, because cars this old don't require them in Texas. Additional info:
- New hand-woven Coco Mats ($200)
- New exhaust pipes, tail pipe and both mufflers. And by new, I mean maybe 20 miles on them
- Moon roof
- Perfect upholstery
- Dark tint all the way around to eliminate sun damage
- New stereo/CD player and rear speakers. The original door speakers are only covers.
- Both doors have perfect map bags, which is very seldom the case
- I put on a dash cover. The original dash has one (1) crack in it
- New Bilstein rear shocks are uninstalled but will be in the trunk
- New window seals/scrapers, which are a bear to replace and are often ruined
- Some (not all) new moulding
So all told, this is a fantastic 240. I am starting the auction at NO RESERVE and am taking my chances. I would prefer this car go to someone who knows and loves these cars, but of course, it will go to the highest bidder. I reserve the right to end the auction early to sell locally, but I WILL NOT pull the plug just because the bids are low. I paid $5000 for the car because that's how nice it is, but if you win it for much less, I'm willing to take my lumps. I can be here to meet with your shipper of choice, but the title doesn't go until I am paid.
Finally, as I see this often, do not bid without intent to pay. If you win the auction you bought the car. I love eBay, and auctions in general, but a winning bid is not your chance to decide later. It is your commitment. If you need permission, get it first.
Thanks and good luck!!
