2001 Audi A8 Description

$2,999.00 OPENING BID NO RESERVE AUCTION
Purchased this 2001 Audi A8L Quattro back in '08 for my then 16 year old daughter. She just graduated from Johns Hopkins and has moved back to England, hence the Audi is being sold.
Over $20,000.00 has been spent on upkeep and improvements for this Audi over the past 8 years.
I have over $15,000.00 in service/maintenance invoices for this one since my purchase and can provide the invoice copies to interested parties. Included in there is a new Audi dealer installed $6,000.00 transmission fitted back in '09 when she had 120,xxx miles on the clock.
Timing belt was changedapproximately 100,000 miles ago.
In addition, cosmetically there was an additional $4,000.00 spent transforming the original green color to black. The interior door jams were also painted black but the interior engine and interior trunk bays were left in the original color. A further $2,500.00 was spent for an updated front end conversion kit and another $1,200.00 spent grafting the conversion on the car's front. This was done back in 2010 when she had 130,000 miles on the clock. I did not save any of the cosmetic works invoices. Since 85,000 miles and 6 years have passed since these works were performed, there is the usual amount of wear and tear exhibited all around. The front grill and conversion does have some light spiders lines cracking in a few spots and is bumped out 1/4" at the base from pothole jarring probably but I think it might be able to be pushed back in place. The front bumper lower grill vents are missing but again, with my black tape, I just closed it in.
Please note the W 12 badges on the car's grill, side fenders and trunk are purely decorative in their nature....This is a standard 8 cylinder model.
The original black interior is still in good condition with the exception of a few dime size electrical burn holes on the front seats caused by the seat warmers overheating, I suppose.
Here below is what I am aware of that is not working:
The check engine light has been on for 8 years and 100,000 miles. Some "muppet" at an "Audi Specialist" charged me $2,200.00 to correct the issue but they couldn't chase the cause down. THEREFORE, IF YOU LIVE IN A STATE THAT FOR INSPECTION PURPOSES WON'T PASS A CAR WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, DO NOT BUY THIS CAR.
The air conditioning works fine but for some reason, has dripped water on my feet from time to time. The service garage said it was clogged drains and fixed it once and then fixed it again. Not sure if they really know what was happening there but again, no issue at the moment and the a/c is working fine.
Sometimes you have to jiggle the automatic transmission shifter to move it but I'm told with Audi, you just have to step on the brake hard to put them into drive....Works that way fine.
The CD player doesn't work but the AM/FM/Cassette player does.
The headlamp warning light on the dash has been constantly illuminated since the updated nose was grafted on, just ignore it. Also, because the new nose is heavier than the old, it takes two gents to raise and lower it properly and one of the interior raised hood support bars needs replaced, if that is important to you.
The sunroof works just fine opening and closing but forget about the manual interior sliding cover that blocks out the glass. Something is wonky with that so I just leave it pushed back all the time.
Seat warmers do not work.
Rear window shade operates manually only.
The little 2" by 2" square cover on the front bumper is missing and is covered with the Union Jack decal.
Regarding the tires, 2 are Winter and 2 are all season.
This Audi, like most cars, photographs a slight bit better than it actually is but she is still a beautiful piece, especially for the money. I've been as honest as possible in my representations here and know the ultimate buyer will feel likewise.
That about covers it but I could have missed something. Keep in mind this is a 15 year old car with 216,000 miles on the clock. The engine and transmission are performing wel, along with the all wheel drive system. Still, I've always considered these European cars something of a lit fuse once they get into the high mile range and this one certainly could qualify. It is dirt cheap for you to buy now but there are a lot of expensive spinning bits on these that can go down anytime. Because of that, this sale is very much As Is.
If you wish to purchase, your welcome to ring me directly at 724-996-1288. Payment in full due at time of sale via cash or bank wire only, no checks or trades. If you desire a pre-purchase inspection, the Audi will be made available but given this is a short term auction, will not hold the car against other buyers for inspection or viewing appointment. Happy to work with your shipper, no problem.
